Not sure I want to give in to the nostalgia enough to watch it tbh.
If they have to directly revive an old tv show rather than make a ‘spiritual sequel’ or something that’s actually good, that’s a red flag imo.
Didn’t the industry learn their lesson with The X-Files?
While nostalgia was their most likely motive, wanting to revive an old show rather than reboot it isn’t necessarily a bad thing.
I don’t know where the classic story left off, but it could’ve been just wanting to continue that story.
Note: I haven’t actually seen this show. I’m more speaking in broad terms.
If they want to make an X-Men cartoon then they can make a new one and make it good, the full frontal nostalgia makes me not want to watch it regardless if it’s good or not. Even calling the thing ‘97’ makes me cringe. If I want my nostalgia g-spot hit that much then I can watch the original show, with the original theme and original voice actors. If they have to hark back 25 years just to make a good X-Men cartoon then that’s a bad thing for X-Men and for the industry as a whole. That’s not the attitude that made the original show and it’s not the attitude that’s gonna create shows that live in the minds of people for the next 25 years.
It’s perfectly possible to make a great original new X-Men show with a great theme tune and great voice cast, so why aren’t they trying to do it?
