Why isn't there just a pop up saying" start here in x order"?
Because people can pick & choose whatever expansions they want to purchase & play.

I’m playing as a new light (deleted my characters recently). I own all expansions/seasons. Initially the ‘A Guardian rises’ quest kicks off. In the cosmodrome like the start of D1. Then a few twists and differences, couple of other missions and the quest ends with a run of the Omnigul, sorry I mean Navota strike (the disgraced). It’s after this that things got a little funny (imo). Next up was an instruction from Shaw Han to go to the tower to meet Zavala (mission marker in the tower beside Zavala), but I logged off (life gets in the way). When I logged back on, the Neomuna First Contact mission was trying to launch. I quit out of that and launched the ‘meet Zavala’ mission. This has a special instance of the tower, Holiday is still there. Worked through that then played some Crucible as ‘Light Reforged’ is my Featured New Light mission. Logged off again afterwards. When I logged back on I was auto launched into this season’s kick off ‘meet Riven’ mission. 😂 None of this is a big deal for me. But if I was a new player I would definitely be wondering what was going on. The Director isn’t displaying the expansions in order, or providing any direction on what ‘should’ be done. Currently I have the Milestones below (from top to bottom) Legacy:Season 20. First Contact mission. Legacy:Beneath the waves. The Descent. Legacy:Shadowkeep Beyond Light: Call of Darkness on Europa Legacy:Toil and Trouble. Way of the Witch The Witch Queen:The Arrival mission Lightfall:First Contact mission (yep, just like at the top 😂 ) I don’t know how practical an undertaking it would be, but I think it would be very helpful for new players if (after completing ‘A Guardian rises’) the game offered a gameplay path based on the DLC someone owns. eg offer a ‘D2 Timeline’. That runs through the expansions in order. TL/DR. ‘A Guardian rises’ is an OK start. But I do think some in game guidance or a curated mission path afterwards would be very helpful to new players.

Jvp WReNChにより編集済み: 2/27/2024 12:17:49 AMI played through new light a little while ago, & I think the game gives you the timeline quest after you finish the strike, crucible, & gambit intros. What featured quests are showing up for you? Edit: they definitely need to stop auto loading people into activities. They never learned after the dares fiasco lol

Thanks. Featured Quests shows New Light: Light Reforged. Step 2/5. Crucible control matches (again, lol just did that as the first step) Campaign:Lightfall Step 1/2 Seasonal: Wishing All the Best Step 2/55 🫣 Exotic: Blast from the past . Step 6/8 The New Light Quests ‘tab’ has Light Reforged. Play Control. Quid Pro Quo. Play Gambit. On the Offensive. Defeat combatants in Vanguard ops. Timeline Reflection: Complete Cayde’s Fate from the timeline. Ohhhh….. Tracking ‘Cayde’s Fate’ highlighted the timeline in the upper right. I had completely missed that. Shame that the timeline only has a couple of ‘lookback’ missions. If the timeline was more obvious (front and centre, lol) and also allowed the relevant campaigns to be launched directly from it then it’d be a very useful ‘minihub’ for new players. I’ll play through the Crucible, Gambit and Vanguard quests later this week and see what happens after that.

Nah ! Destiny 2 is a sh#t fest to begin ! So many parts that make sense and feel disconnected. It’s well known that destiny 2 have been cut up and parts vaulted . Then the farm mission for resources . Destiny 2 is what it is ….a mess . Still a great game just has abundance of issues and now the long long season which most have dropped out of . Destiny 2 needs new players and making it clear and easy is far from a bad thing .

And what do you get? An incomprehensible storyline and this old article makes me saying "are you serious?" https://www.eurogamer.net/bungie-to-end-controversial-deletions-of-older-destiny-2-expansions They vaulted content because it's in the same way they don't want to have eight raids in the game
-
Considering the vaulted content and seasonal activity, you suddenly have cayde out of nowhere talking like he's still alive on some older strikes, bracus being a subordinate of dominus (who's that? You wouldn't know if you didn't play red war), etc and there's no order on campaign so you're left confused
-
Sure, we have different dialogues but that doesn't address the story not being put in order unless you follow the release date for each story and still leaving some questions like that crota in shadowkeep. If I'm a new player I would have no idea who's crota and how he's dead, just some character thrown to you without much context
-
That's just a reason for why their monetization is horrible, where the light and dark saga is a jumbled mess from paywall they put with no order
hitting people with a barrage of every cutscene ever made as soon as they log in, regardless of the dlc they've purchased, would make the story comprehensible?
A short cutscene giving you a summary from red war until the previous DLC of DLC you buy (forsaken if you buy shadowkeep, and so on) can work, no need for a barrage of cutscenes and I'm sure bungie can do better than this random person on the forum with no background and experience in game design
