Every single day for that last year... or almost every day, respective PvP....

There were topics on how terrible Control was... Tons of upvotes every time there was a topic, often a top trending post. What do PvP players actually want? Do they even know? I'm not trying to incite anyone or instigate. I'm just saying you clearly asked for this. You wanted PvP to be a different game than rest of the sandbox, and they're giving it to you. Abilities limited, heavy and special limited... HC, Shotty, Snipe. That's checkmate tuning in PvP.

  • Previously, we had 3 different versions of control. We had control, iron banner and either trials or comp would typically have a control game mode. This was too much. But clearly the alternative they’ve put in place does not satisfy most people. There is a pretty big gulf between those two extremes were a far more reasonable compromise lives.

  • No one asked for slow and boring gameplay that promotes sitting and hand holding. The ability changes are great imo. The TTK on certain weapon types, no bueno.

    • [b]I agree[/b]. While I think [i]Checkmate needs more fine tuning[/i], I find the response to the effort surprising. Despite ttks based on precision, the go fast update, Special ammo based on performance and the playing of objectives in tandem with your team, and extremely potent abilities (that should happen slightly more often in CM)... people compare it to vanilla. They need to whine less and debate the adjustments they want to see and validate it with reasoning. That said, CM needs to be made what the community agrees is right before replacing standard core activities. I enjoy it though.

    • Clash should be the main 6s playlist imo. Barely anyone caps zones in normal control & as for checkmate it was fine until they buffed the spam weapons. Now it's worse than normal 6s

      • You're intelligent enough to know that "PvP players actually want" consist of a large group of players that all have different wants and needs. That's why PVE players also can't be lumped into one -blam!- group....some are asking for the game to be easier and others for it to be more difficult... Rarely is it the same person complaining on for both things at the same time..that is what we call a troll.

            Well the tuning is pvp for destiny based tuning and it's a little different than more heavily competency based tunings. And the Shogun's trying to give all the PvP players what they want. That's partially because there are going to be quite a few memories of pvp promises not quite panning out. And yes, some on our side have some of those memories completely concocted by themselves! So you can see why the Shogun would want to send the message that pvp players were really in the driver seat in a different way than probably since the very beginning of the game. And that comes with various levels of danger. And the more levels you climb through transgressing a-gainst the really bigger badder Shogun, the more you can expect to get sliced to pieces when and if that's what really pleases the really bigger stronger Shogun. Once again. I am not the Shogun. I can just tell you what will happen when they get here. Do not allow all your dreams to get completely rearranged by the Shogun when they show up trying to stop stuff. I can prove I'm not the Shogun or think I am, by saying it's really the responsibility of the Shogun to know when there's really a bigger badder stronger Shogun watching what you're doing. Control should probably be where it would please any and every and probably multiple bigger badder Shoguns and casuals with Shogun syndrome. Or else the Shogun might show up way after you were already out of time.

          • There are people who come here to complain every day about everything. There are others who only come here when there are actual issues. The people complaining every day were the ones complaining about control. The ones here now complaining about checkmate are not the same. I think that the idea of CheckMate is fine, but the balance in the sandbox is not good. There is also no testing method other than playing to see what weapons do what. No datasheets for us to know what TTK a weapon does and how many shots archetype A vs B is of the same weapon type. Destiny has always had a snowball effect. With how players get super, orbs, weapon perks that reward on kills... it has now reduced the ability snowballing, and replaced it with special ammo snowballing. In the standard sandbox, you can starve the enemy of ammo by not using a special weapon, in CM, it doesnt matter.

            There is an obvious fix - you just provide 2 modes. Ability standard and checkmate (you can even take checkmate further if you separate the 2). Imagine this > people are complaining when you take away their choice. 6v6 choose checkmate/standard > choose Control or whatever is on tap. Same for 3v3. Show population levels. Done. I don't personally care now having fun with whatever.
