MY OPINION
The truth is Gambit is the best replayable activity, in my opinion.
WHY I THINK GAMBIT IS FUN
Its the only aspect of the game that has PvE & PvP in it simultaneously. In fact, it is the only game I know of that has PvEvP.
Gambit matches are unpredictable. In a PvP match, if a team is up by 30, you pretty much know who is going to win. However, in a Gambit match, you'll see some of the craziest comebacks in the whole game. It never gets boring.
There is no single "Meta" per class & subclass. The so called Gambit Meta is more diverse, depending on the role you play for your team and how you want to play that role.
WHAT I NOTICED ABOUT THE GAMBIT COMMUNITY
The Gambit community doesn't seem to whine as much on the forums as the PvE or PvP community. Personally, I'm happy where gambit is at right now. In fact, I'm scared if Bungie touches it, they'll end up breaking it. I wish Bungie would release data on how much repetitive players PvE, PvP, and PvEvP get, or how many Re-gilded seals there are each season. I never have problems finding matches on Gambit. I suspect more people casually play it than most folks realize. Gambit is my go to activity when I'm not grinding for something.
WHY I THINK MOST THE DESTINY COMMUNITY DOESN'T LIKE GAMBIT
Streamers & Influencers act like its "not cool" to like Gambit and jellyfish follow.
I think just some want to bash it because they suck at it. I say to these people the same thing they say to me about PvP: "skill issue", or "git gud". I suck at PvP, but overall enjoy all aspects and modes of it including competitive.
I feel like alot of competitive players(mostly PvP mains) aren't into it because it requires collaboration, which is counter-intuitive to them. Its harder to brag about who's sword is longer(no k/d).
Some complain that pre-made teams outright destroy random player matched teams. These people would be right, but you could say the same about PvP. In fact, this forums is riddled with folks complaining it.
Some could point out that it is the least played activity, and again you would be right, but I could also point out that it also receives the least attention from Bungie.
I FEAR BUNGIE WILL SCRAP GAMBIT
I implore Bungie to look at the data. Consider how much work is put into it, versus player replayability & retention. If PvE was neglected as bad as Gambit, the game would be dead. If PvP was neglected as bad as Gambit, there would be no PvP community.
To those about to reply that PvP was neglected, consider this: there are over 12 PvP active game modes, plus new ones still being added. There are some special game modes like "Iron Banana" and end-game-like content "Trials" that are on rotation. How many rewards are there in PvP, not to mention adepts? How many reprised and new maps were added/coming? Now compare that to Gambit...
Bungie, please don't remove Gambit.
LETS HAVE A CONVERSATION
Can Gambit players give a like or reply? What things do you wish were different? Tell us your list of PROS & CONS about Gambit.
Thanks.

7 通の返信Gambit has always been fairly good. It just became a meme to dump on it. The bones and idea are good. Gambit prime was about as close to great as we got. The current iteration is ok, but the amount of cheesy DPS tricks and Heavy ammo availability holds it back. Constantly having balancing issues combined with not getting a single new map since Season of the Drifter has severely hurt the mode. How to “Fix” Gambit (in my opinion) - Heavy ammo now spawns every other area clear. - Special Ammo can now drop from enemy defeats as well as in crates. - Heavy ammo drops from crates are reduced for some heavy weapon types (mostly meta invasion weapons like Leviathan’s, Sleeper, Xeno, etc that gain multiple ammo per pickup) - Defeating taken wizards during damage phase spawns a taken energy pool near the boss (~12m away) that grants the Primeval Slayer buff. Buff lingers for 2-3 seconds after exiting the pool, weakening but not eliminating melee builds. - Slightly reduce combatant damage - make new maps using re-used assets —— Moon idea: Hive, Fallen, Vex (black garden). Fallen area, Hive area, moon relict area. —— Throne World idea: Scorn, Hive, Cabal. Lucent Hive area, decaying area, pyramid area. —— Neomuna Area: Cabal, Vex, Scorn. Neomuna streets, Neomuna courtyard, beachfront steeps. Gambit modes are also pretty simple. Have 3 pools: classic gambit, gambit prime (current enemy agro and damage. Increased motes to summon. 20 mote collection max with new Taken Ogre blocker.) and a party rotator. Party rotator could include things like Relic (Defeating a glowing 5 mote enemy instead drops a relic. Scorch Cannon for fallen, spear for Cabal, Aegis for Vex, sword for hive, and Scythe for Scorn) Or a Rush game mode mote totals are reduced but you’re constantly draining motes. Idk, pvevp has a lot of opportunities. If you want, you could make gambit prime like trials and only available on weekends with a set enemy type and/or map. Maybe give us some exclusive loot (~3 guns to start: 21% Delirium, Bygones, and a new gun?) Just my thoughts. Probably not going to happen until we get a D3 or a big shakeup. But fun to think about nonetheless

Ramsにより編集済み: 12/4/2023 5:21:52 PMGambit just isn’t fun, that’s why people don’t like it. It isn’t fun and the loot isn’t worth going for. It’s great that you like it, doesn’t mean everyone else should. Bungie spent time putting work into it and found it wasn’t paying off. That’s why they stopped adding constant to it.

I would like it if Bungo would support their game mode instead of constantly taking things away from it. A seasonal shader and ornament simply isn’t good enough. Would it kill them to release atleast one new map every year? 🤷♂️

Gambit is a good mode , but the catch up mechanic that allows the losing team to just keep on invading is nonsense. Invades should be earned with motes banked. Lets say per 20 you get an invade 5 per game you can activate at anytime .. The game Titan Fall had a real fun game mode called Attrition it was a large map with both teams and AI . Same think you had to bank motes to win. Players dropped like 3 motes , bots dropped 1 .. great game mode

JazzyPaladin477により編集済み: 12/2/2023 8:13:16 PMThe thing that turns me off is how they constantly mess with the damage scaling from one round to the next. Some rounds feel like hero strikes and others feel like grand masters. Some games you are getting one shot every time you poke your head out, and dump Mag after mag into red bars, others you can just lay waste to all before you with an stir idle. Same map, same enemy type…just plays totally different. it’s either bungie manipulating win loss or some serious lag/de-sync going on.

2 通の返信I love Gambit. I just want the other maps back in rotation, Invader mechanic needs a slight rework, and motes still do wacky things (bouncing, pickup range oddly small, going underground).

2 通の返信That'll preach, brotha 🙏Gambit is the best. I do hope they will add a Gambit map on the moon, and then Eris comes and talks to Drifter some hehe that would be awesome. I do love how unique Gambit is, and lol I'm not very good at Crucible either, so Gambit is definitely a lot more enjoyable. I also really like Drifter, I think he's cool and a pretty unique and interesting character. I really hope Bungie won't scrap Gambit, cause its very fun and very unique. But yea, totally agree with what you said, and this is a great post. Hopefully Gambit is here to stay, it really is the best game mode in my opinion 🙏🐍

With a team it can be fun. With randoms its usually frustrating, because invariably my team will lose despite me banking 70+ motes, losing none (usually), and invading and killing the enemy team pretty effectively while ALSO usually stopping the enemy invader before he gets a kill. 🤷♂️
