I can shorten this all up into just a few sentences.
Bungie creates meta, people play the game, Bungie kills that meta and creates a new one, people find it, grind it, and continue to play the game. Rinse, repeat for 10 years, play Marathon.

You might not, but people will. And bungie fans especially will. Haven't you heard them all gassing up marathon since it was announced? "That's where all the dev time has gone, that's why d2 sucks. They're trying to make marathon good" "Marathon is gonna be the pvp game destiny could never be" things like that.

Meta you say? when the game director himself can't kill a single champion for over 10min on livestream.. shows you exactly how well they know what they are doing, or maybe he didn't get the manual for the latest Meta..lol These changes are pushing people and streamers away and hurting the game rather than helping it, quite evident from the recent round of layoffs. If anything I learnt from marketing is " Best Promotion or Demotion is word of mouth" And right now, it's not a good one...

I have mixed opinions on the whole "Joe killing a champion" thing. On the one hand, He's probably extremely busy making sure that all the new content gets released on time, and I imagine he doesn't have a lot of time to play. On the other hand, if you expect all your players to be able to solo those lost sectors, for the newest exotics, you best be able to do it yourself.

Honestly if he doesn’t know how to kill a champion and from what I watched I’d be surprised if he actually played his own account prob has people get his weapons and -blam!- for him I mean killing champions is like week 1 destiny knowledge

This is spot on. Think about it the people who say it’s easy, play stacked with top players and always on meta.. if they want to feel challenged run non meta and play with lower tier players. No way does Bungie balance for the top 1% it doesn’t make sense and if they do shame on them.

I've suggested to people to do just what you mentioned. Take all their armor mods off, stop running meta, don't use exotics, etc, and they all refused while still complaining about the game being too easy. Sometimes, I don't believe it's about the challenge as much as it is trying to make themselves look like some kind of elite gamers. It's an ego thing.

The problem is that there's a difference between feeling challenged and feeling stunted. A lot of people wouldn't feel challenged by handicapping themselves, they would just feel stunted, and some people can find a fun challenge in being stunted like that, but most can't.

I can see that too. What's the point of having these items in the game if you don't use them? But by "self-nerfing", they are doing the same thing they're asking Bungie to do, just in a roundabout way. The only difference is, when Bungie does it, it's gone forever for everyone. If you self-nerf, you can always go back to that meta build to just kick back and have fun.
