I just hopped on these forums to post about something else, and the first thing I see on the left side is an ad for Bungie saying We're Hiring. Now, while when I clicked the link and saw what positions they're hiring there were no positions for community management, I did see something interesting. Out of the 12 currently (as of 15 November 2023) open positions, only 3 were for Destiny, their only currently active product. The other positions were either for Marathon, whatever untitled project they are working on, or for something called incubation which I believe means people working on brand-new IPs. (Incubation is NOT A NEW GAME as far as I know.) You'd think that after the layoffs from the end of last month that more positions for Destiny would open up, but from the looks of things I am worried that Destiny is becoming more and more of a back-burner priority. This isn't just me, right?

1 返信Destiny 2 isn't just on Bungie's backburner now, it's on a sputtering campfire in a long-forgotten cave littered with broken, gnawed bones that would even be ignored by wild critters in the woods.

7 通の返信Did you think they layed off a bunch of people just to hire more? That's not how things work in the real world.

If i was applying for the position i would start by asking “how much was the last guy paid”

Company's don't lay off employees and then immediately rehire the same positions...That's....not how layoffs work. This shouldn't be surprising to anyone. Also things in incubation means they are developing new games, yes. It's just the early part of that process. People don't just sit down and start coding a Destiny lmao. As far as not having the best handle on how companies operate, especially regarding layoffs, no. It's not just you lol.

Destiny is going to die sometime. If people don't flock to the game, and let's be honest, it's all Bungie's fault, then it wouldn't make sense to keep it going past whatever planned annual pass crap they have in the pipeline. Personally, I'd love to see D2 end, Bungie take a breather, hire some management that can you know, manage, and come back in 3-5 years with a D3 that blows everyone away. Almost all of my friends who gave the game up indefinitely share my opinion.

2 通の返信Solariusにより編集済み: 11/15/2023 8:44:02 PMIt’s what companies do to cut corners. They get rid of vets who need more pay to stay onboard and replace them with young passionate and hungry workers who’ll do their work for less to include doing the job of 3 people instead of one because they aren’t aware of their worth yet. Then when the company has their A team of half the staff, they work em till they burn out. Pretty sure bungie has a high turnover rate with their starting positions.

5 通の返信Or (and I’m by no means a Bungie defender). …. They moved some key people internally to destiny 2 and that meant these positions opened up.
