It started right before Lightfall. Speaking to the massive instability issues....
Silence for months... through almost 2 fiscal quarters.
Then we got the weird 🙃"server upgrade" explanation... which didn't make sense because the same thing that's happening now HAS been happening.
So... now through 3 fiscal quarters, the year ends with September....
How much grace does Bungie have left per their independent operating agreement?
I love this game... that's why I'm speaking out. You're (Bungie) are being tactically & maliciously disrupted to undermine your independent control.
2 parties could benefit from this: 1. Malicious 3rd Party actors (cheat devs, hardware addon devs) & 2. Sony... full stop. If it's the latter... the game is dead. If it's the latter (and you're a Bungie dev) the best time to blow the whistle/speak up would be now while Ryan's conduct and ethics are still fresh in everyone's mind from what came out in the FTC trial. If you have any leverage... the time is now.
I've been barely able to play the last couple weeks. It's going to be sad if it ends this way. Someone needs to email Casey Hudson... get him on the phone, he might have an interesting perspective on these issues. Casey Hudson, formerly studio head of Bioware, that signed an independent operating agreement with EA... then lost everything because Andy Wilson signed that deal in bad faith... took everything. Maybe that's not happening... but the circumstances are eerily similar.
Most of the senior devs put on Anthem (Marathon) with the least experienced devs left overworked & understaffed to develop Mass Effect Andromeda (Final Shape).
This is WHY I'm worried.
I'm already kinda checked out... the user metrics are most definitely tanking. I'll deal with jankiness... Starfield, lol... but if I can't play... if people can't play, it's over. AND... it's so depressing... so many are here to watch the house burn down. AND... the gaming media isn't really covering it....
That's dire & depressing. You know I think I can pinpoint the mortal error... it was bringing D2 to PC, you weren't ready for it... your game wasn't built for it. You were always playing defense & catch-up... you allowed (for way too long) the integrity of the product to be attacked, compromised, & undermined. You allowed investment to continue amongst these 3rd party marketplaces for years before you acted. It's so much easier to prevent an infestation of rats before it starts... as it starts. That's IF it's malicious 3rd parties.
If that that's the case, the game needs new network infrastructure... if you can't do that, maybe the game goes PvE ONLY... but I don't know if that would change anything now.
I'm more worried about this game, its Devs, & studio than I've ever been. So, there's that... back to Starfield & Cyberpunk I guess 😢. This whole situation is sad.

I'm worried because BungLe has literally been trashing this game to heck and back, gleefully, while raising the price of everything, increasing the grind and time needed to get anything done, and removing most of the reasons we'd do such things for actual FUN. Final Shape is a YouTube movie as far as I'm concerned.

Even if nobody bought TFS, it wouldn’t matter much at all. Their focus has been slowly shifting to Marathon, to the point that it’s basically become their ace-in-the-hole cash cow. As soon as that teaser trailer dropped, the Destiny IP left their crosshairs. The same exact thing happened way back when Halo 3: ODST came out. They began teasing Destiny (and even dropped hints in ODST) until they put the Halo IP in saran wrap and passed it off to Microsoft. They paid out of pocket (with help from Activision) to cover development time until they made all their expenses back (and then some) when Destiny came out. The Bungie.net Halo community suffered and they built up an entirely new community/playerbase for Destiny. Sound familiar? That’s cuz they’re doing the same thing with Destiny, using all that money in the Sony deal to cover any losses. Destiny community dies, Marathon community sprouts up out of nowhere (hence the distinction of This Week In Marathon), and Bob’s your uncle. Behind the scenes, we’re basically a footnote at this point :(

they were paid Sony money and a very large amount went to retain the developers so that they would stay and continue making games services for Sony, how would you work at a job you don’t like? in most cases, people work because they need money and not because they like it and they strive for something, but here you have already been paid a huge amount in advance so that you can do the same... As they say, it’s hard to get up at 6 in the morning for a run when you have what you strived for when you were poor...

1 返信ManatuBearにより編集済み: 9/24/2023 6:06:05 PMThere is nothing to be worried about. We all know The Final Shape will be a rehash of everything since Destiny 1. The last time Bungo had a drop of creativity, they created the Scorn, that are just another rehash of the Fallen. It's basically an uninspired factory line now, so nothing will stop it, if a worker quits or dies, another clone will replace it.
