Something has been on my mind for awhile. Let's say I am pursuing a grenade bounty. I toss a grenade into a group of enemies and five are killed. I check the bounty and have received credit for two. So Bungie math appears to be, on the surface that:
5 = 2
Does anyone know why Bungie's math works this way?
5 = 2 is false.
a = b _______________ (let a = b)
a^2 = ab _______________ (multiply both sides by a)
a^2 - b^2 = (ab) - b^2 _______________ (subtract b^2 from both)
(a+b)(a-b) = b(a-b) _______________ (simplify for easier division)
a + b = b _______________ (divide both sides by (a-b)
b + b = b _______________(a = b, so replace a with b)
2b = b _______________(b+b = 2b)
4=2 _______________ (let b=2)
Thats probably what happened here, you miscounted and actually only killed 4 enemies, not five, and b equaled 2 in this case. Hope this helps.

Depends on the type of grenade and HOW each enemy actually died. Was it a void explosion? Scorch? Stasis shatter?
