Making your own pizza bread is better than 99% of all regular pizza in the world.
Why? So many shop/takeaway/restaurant pizzas are crap, imo. Soggy cardboard bases, salty/sugary sauces, lacklustre toppings or flavourless cheese.
Meanwhile, pizza bread is super easy to make, but tastes amazing. You can select your favourite ingredients to make it just how you like.
Here’s how I usually make it:
- Slice and grill some fresh sourdough bread on one side.*
- Flip it over and, generously spread tomato purée on the ungrilled side.**
- Add bell pepper and jalapeños.***
- Sprinkle on grated Cheddar and/or Red Leicester.****
- Back under the grill until ready.
That’s it! So quick, so easy. There’s an excellent pizzeria near me, but it’s expensive, so I save it for when I want something special. Generally, when I fancy pizza, I’m making pizza bread.
*I use sourdough because it goes really crispy and crunchy on the grilled side, but stays soft and fluffy on the ungrilled side.
**I use purée made from 100% tomato because… I want it to taste of tomato.
***Toppings of your own choice, in your own quantities is nearly always going to be better than what someone else serves up.
****Same for cheese — choose your favourite, something with actual flavour.
4 通の返信I’m not good at cooking anything but pizza (and chicken. I make mine from scratch. I also make a tremendous cauliflower crust. Getting everything right on a pizza is difficult but one of your greatest weapons is a broiler. You want the pepperoni to be crispier on contact then smooth on the whole bite.

7 通の返信I have never ever in my life had anything pizza related that is homemade come remotely close to what I can get at Pizza Hut.

1 返信Homemade anything is always better than what you can by at the supermarket. Just takes practice and time.

3 通の返信Better might not be the correct word Tastier? Absolutely. More cost-effective (factoring in the opportunity cost of Time)? Probably not.
