1. A better Lightfall campaign. For Lightfall being a major expansion, Destiny 2 being a PvE-centric game and Bungie being at their best when it comes to designing the main campaign and writing the story, this was a surprisingly poor effort. Very strange, considering they had a great blueprint in Witch Queen to follow.
2. Invest more in PvP. There is a huge portion of the fanbase that loves this part of the game, yet it has been left abandoned for the last 4-5 years. No dedicated servers, generally unexciting loot lately, at most 1 new map a year, an unnecessary overhaul to Iron Banner (all it needed was a way to focus engrams), Rift in Competitive, a TBMM in Trials that doesn't work because there aren't enough rewards to incentivise people to play it and keep the player population high, you name it.
3. Delete Gambit. By contrast, this game mode is widely disliked by the community and only serves to suck up resources that could be used elsewhere. This is by Bungie's own admission as per their latest STOG, too.
4. Prioritise customer experience, not expenditure. Doing the same thing over and over again is not fun, especially when there seem to be more ornaments in the Eververse store for people to buy than loot for people to chase. You can't come out and say you are unable to keep making ritual armour going forward when you are making new ornaments for people to spend Silver on every season, without fail. Maybe if you allocated more resources to the game than to the store, you wouldn't have so many of the issues you complained about in your STOG.
5. Listen to your community. Bungie has oftentimes taken extremely long to act on pain points from the community, whether it be allowing people to save loadouts in-game, implement anti-cheat or balance the meta. Right now and judging by the latest STOG, which respectfully, was very out-of-touch, it feels like Bungie isn't listening at all anymore.
These are just 5 things I think Bungie should have done to give this game the send-off it deserved. I say that in past tense because sadly, it is too late now and won't happen.
Why some of y’all play a game you don’t like floors me. Just play a different game.
Is it really that fun typing up that same dumb -blam!- post when there is likely over 100 out there already? Y’all just parroting what a streamer said. At least the streamer has a vested interest in bungie changing. Their streams are failing cause people aren’t there to watch them…. They are there for the games they play. If they get on stream a cry like a -blam!- about something, who would watch.
I agree with everything except partially the Gambit point. Bungie either needs to get rid of Gambit and free up the resources or devote more resources to update the mode or add new variants to it, or add more maps to increase replayability and so it's no longer neglected on life support more than the Crucible is.
