I’m fairly certain that the fishing ponds are their easy way out to pacify folks burnt out over Lost Sector Exotic Farming, the lack of players interested in Neomuna and the terrible focusing system that was confirmed bugged initially. When you can fish and get large swathes of glimmer, prisms, legendaries meant to be discarded for mats, and exotic fish to deposit on the character of your choice it’s a no brainer that fishing will be the go-to since it is less stressful and less effort-draining even if it might be more time consuming, although that’s debatable because I’m pretty sure fishing is much faster overall. [spoiler] All of that aside, I’m genuinely surprised about the whiners complaining about fishing being a bad addition and an excuse to seasonal content when it may very well have just been optional and still largely circumvents some of the biggest material and exotic farming issues that have been prevalent for some time now. Running out of shards or glimmer? Here’s the perfect season to start stockpiling. I’m very critical over the horrible pacing and lackluster narrative that was released with Lightfall and the clear failure of content delivery from the devs, but I swear some folks will try to start a fire or argument where it was very much unneeded.
