Do yourself and everyone a favor. Stop playing this game. They have cheated you. They only care about your money. This game should be better and have more content than it has. This game shouldn't have this many problems. Please stop playing if you want things to change.

If the day where we can expect gambit maps regularly ever came... I'd be doing backflips. I would love to see two or three cruci maps a year over the one yearly map we get. But I am logging on EVERY WEEK and BLASTING AWAY in EVERY PLAYLIST.  I am plainly FLOORED. Crucible? A blast. Gambit? I'm a Parasite monster clearing banks with a single worm. And now? Dude... now? I roll Strand warlock with a demolitionist Ragnhild and run around reloading the new ultra-buff Eyes of Tomorrow with a Transversive Steps Sprint. Leveling up my Age Old Bond, too. This is the single sharpest, freshest, most varied action shooting game I've ever played. I have all the licenses, too, so guess what else? When my buddies crawl on late at night... we can shoot the -blam!- in a different dungeon every night of the week, no repeats. The last 4 dungeons also upgraded to exclusive armor and guns. I sure as hell don't have godrolls for all of them yet. I get enough mileage out of the playlists to find a dungeon or a raid as a welllock, no sweat. So all my onetrick friends can use what they like, no sweat. Sunbracers or Rain of Fire keeps the Welllock action hot, too. This game has reached legendary status to me and I'll be here to the servers turn off. I hit 123,456 bright dust yesterday. I'm gonna blow thru to a million by 2033 if I have my way. I love this stuff. Not to mention... a flipping new timed exotic mission after 4 years. Incredible season in my eyes. It's a bummer that the expectations some of you had about Lightfall weren't met. I've found plenty to love. For anybody who feels the same silently in what I feel is an overblown wave of negativity, I don't think you're crazy. For anybody that's hoping for more or something different, I hope you find it, if it's Season 22, Final Shape, Diablo, Baldurs Gate, Starfield... whatever it is. I hope you can find the game for you. I have 3500 active hours in the game (4400 if you count loads, orbit, tower, matchmaking, etc). I was once a top 1000 raider in both clears and speed. I have been top 0.1% of gambit ELO in 4 of the last 7 seasons (might be 3? I can't remember). A hardcore sweat at one point. So there are my credentials. I just said this in another post, but there are elements of D2 that are truly great, and nobody complains about them. The gunplay, mobility, verticality, map design, blending of mechanics (raids and dungeons are the best examples, but there are others), and integration of space magic skills are top notch in this game. However. Basically everything else is pretty bad. The storytelling should be way better considering the amount of time they have to work on it. They have amazing lore which they consistently ditch for garbage characters like what's their name in Neomuna (I legitimately can't remember that character's name right now). They have a universe they've been building for 9 years and they do a poor job of integrating these characters into their story arcs to a point where it's tough to feel bad for em. They had to kill Amanda Holliday to get us to care about character development. Too much monologuing and not enough interaction. Yes they've improved in these areas in recent seasons, but not at all in the DLC itself. Nobody cares when birdman died. Can't even remember his name either. Forgettable. The seasonal model is flat bad. The story part is okay, and has been getting better, but it'-blam!- a wall in terms of development. Minor things like having to go to a terminal to ahbe a radio call with someone who was just in the damn room with you breaks immersion. Yes it's small, but when it happens all the time, it adds up. Raids/dungeons/GMs are simultaneously too rewarding and not rewarding enough. Yes, a million guardians did Last Wish in week 1 of this season, but they didn't do the whole raid, no no, they only did Kalli. One raid encounter repeated a million times. That's bad for burnout, it's bad for immersion, and it's bad for interaction. These days the only two groups of people running full raids are newbies wanting to learn and raid sweats wanting to speed. The middle demographic just farms CPs, and it's f*cking boring man. And then these morons burn themselves out and blame Bungie for it. The community here is in shambles. Honestly, if Bungie could get rid of 3/4 of them and start again it wouldn't be the worst idea. Was in a fireteam a month ago with some lady who literally starting bashing gay people during a random DSC we were doing. Kicked her right out of the fireteam, I don't need that garbage in my life. Had another guy join for a Kingsfall and left at daughters to steal a checkpoint. Like bruh, just switch characters, wipe, join back on main and finish it with us. None of us would've cared. We just finished it with 5 people instead. Here's the thing. The people in this game are getting bad. They require some new thing to chase, and have forgotten how to play a game just to play the game. However, Bungie feeds into this mindset by spending more resources giving these people something to chase rather than rounding out the game experience. That's how you get a million people being angry for no new content, but then also have a million raid runs where you only do 20% of the raid. It's sauced man. Sauced and served. This game isn't changing anymore, and the way it is now caters to a very specific type of player. People like you, OP, and I, we can go into the game and have fun. However, most of the people around us aren't having fun anymore, and it eats into the playing experience. Bungie caring more about the chase than the game means the chase will never cease and the game will never reach final maturity. And that keeps it from being one of the all time greats.

I mean, I guess for a 9 year beta that plays like it was made by an indie dev of like 5 employees, it's passable. Definitely wouldn't call it unbelievable. More like mediocre at best. Like, if you think this is good, I'd love to hear your opinion on something like Redfall.

Imagine chosing a title that fits the communities mood just to farm upvotes and meanwhile being a rose tinted glasses bungie lover LOL. People like the op are THE reason why the game is in this horrible life support state. Addicts are fine with trash, reissued, lowest quality possible "content" because they have NOTHING going on in their life and Bungie sees that. They see the sales numbers, they see the player counts. They see that addicts are fine with far below mediocre content. They dont need to deliver proper quality content. Because of people like this guy. I think the separation between the more negative reviews and you is simple. You went into Lightfall expecting things as everyone else did, but instead of being disappointed, you decided to look at the good things. This pointed toward the gameplay, witch as your comment has so thoroughly explained, is the main reason you love this game. Others however, were expecting a much more expansive story, and could only focus on that as we have been getting such quality of life updates for the past year and a half. That means it would have been the same old to get more of those updates. They wanted something fresh. I would say that I’m in the middle. I will probably never look on Lightfall with a nostalgic Lense ever, but I can enjoy some of the missions for what they are, no matter how bad the story was. I am glad for what we got, but upset that Bungie broke out trust. It could have been worse, but then again, not really. They need to do better next time. I’m glad you can be optimistic.

I'm at a point where I can't stand strikes anymore, but crucible is still a bucket of fun.

The game has warts. Some people need to focus on the warts. I think this game is a stone cold banger, warts and all. I want the problems addressed, but a banger it is, and a banger it will remain.

1. There was no reason to increase number of Strikes required for Engram from 3 to 5. It is 3 for Gambit and Crucible. Leave it at 3 for Vanguard. 2. There was no need to turn the playlist Engrams from Pinnacle to Powerful. Leave them at Pinnacle. 3. Focusing for an Adept Nightfall weapon at Zavala shouldn't cost a whopping 10 Cyphers, especially considering you can only hold 10 and the surplus doesn't go to Postmaster. 4. Grandmaster Strikes like Lake of Shadows and Lost Sectors like Veles Labrynth really didn't need a rework. Players like having 1-2 maps like this that are slightly easier. 5. Lost Sectors don't all need to be 10-15 minutes. You only get a chance at getting an Exotic with a chance of getting the one you want with a chance at being high-stat and a chance at having the distribution you want. That is enough RNG, thank you. We don't need Bungie to waterboard us for 15 minutes beforehand. 6. Armourer mods shouldn't give you a higher probability at getting a spike in the desired attribute, they should guarantee it. Not everything needs to be a lottery in this game. Imagine going to an ATM for a chance of it working, a chance at it accepting your PIN, a chance at you getting your money and a chance at it being the amount you asked for (not to mention you would pay a microtransaction for the entire operation, if it were the Bungie Bank). 7. While Strand is very fun, the way in which the campaign prevented you from using it throughout was a big miss. It is also good extremely long and arduous to unlock all the Aspects and Fragments. Not as bad as Stasis back in Beyond Light but still bad. 8. Rift should not be in Comp playlist because it is as amateur as PvP game modes come. The overall state of PvP needs to be looked at but I doubt it will at this stage, given the years of abandonment it is in and how the PvP team has been reallocated to Marathon. 9. Trials of Osiris fireteam match-making does not work because the player population is not big enough and the player population is not big enough because the incentives are not good enough. Increase the Trials Engram drop rate so bad players can at least get the non-Adept versions of the weapons they want. Make the Pinnacle that drops from Trials at least have an increased chance (seeing as you love probability so much, Bungie) to drop the weapon of the week. 10. The story and dialogue for Lightfall was pretty much universally panned. Nothing else to say here that hasn't already been said.

I just deleted the game and not be pre-ordering the final shape so I will be going back to destiny one going forward.

So you start your post by saying how bad the state of the game is, but then you immediately flip your opinions and say how great it is?

I feel a similar way. I mean, in my opinion the literal character dialogue during the seasons is currently leaving a LOT to be desired, it feels spoon-fed and almost like it's talking down to me, like the game thinks I am not smart enough to handle slightly more complex, rich and mature exchanges. The game isn't perfect, it leaves a lot to the imagination. But I've found the "cure" for not being one of the insane people who spends all day and all night seething in hot rage about this game's very existence, is to, you know, get a life. Like, seriously. Play other games, go outside and touch literal grass, whatever it takes. A video game having flaws should not produce this white-hot shrieking fury that it does in some people. I'd almost dare to say we're approaching the realm of temporary mental illness here. Something less-than-lethal and certainly curable, but a derangement nonetheless. There's also a clear set of completely outrageous expectations that I see pretty frequently. Personally, I'd love to see Destiny take a year off after Final Shape, and for them to turn the next big expansion after that into a Destiny 3. I'd like to see them leave the oldest consoles behind and embrace the future. I'm not even thinking of or expecting any massive over-night changes as a result, but rather clearing the path ahead to remove limitation and expand the scope of the game further, down the road. In the end, I enjoy the game because I don't over-play it. I sign in once a week on Tuesdays to enjoy new story content, and then maybe once more a week for a couple hours of Crucible. That's it. Expecting ONE game and ONE game studio to produce ENDLESS content that INFINITELY hits your computer week after week at world class quality is absolutely childish. Also, I'm super excited for Baldr's Gate 3 and I can't wait to split my time between these two games. I haven't even played it yet, just waiting for the full release.

The basics have always been good which is why they still have a playerbase. Its the specifics that kill it for most, either an issue like story being wtf? and or pvp and or gambit and or core playlist neglect. You love everything, thats cool and more power to you. Everyones different, that doesn't mean the games in an objectively good spot or even subjectively for most. I have a friend thats vegan, swears by it, I think she's nuts ....to each thier own but you're not going to convince many to your view.

Sounds like you need a break. I’ve been playing more old school Mario and Zelda games in my free time recently. It makes destiny more fun when you come back, not always but sometimes lol I might get fomo’d hard at the end of the expansion year for not playing all the seasonal crap I paid for 🤷‍♂️ it is what it is.
