Certain encounters with infinitely respawning enemies (ie. Thrallway in Shattered Throne) are coded to either prevent or throttle experience and Catalyst/Crafting progress. I would assume that many of the enemies in the midboss encounter during the Avalon mission fall into this category. (΄◉◞౪◟◉｀)
