I keep getting in and out of Destiny 2 and every time I'm reminded why.
Like, the players are terrible to each other man. I see people asking questions getting called all kinds of names, people trying to play crucible and getting laughed, people joining people for first time events and getting kicked for even asking a question.
Like are you not embarrassed? It's a video game. Just wanted to vent a little cuz I can't be the only person who notices this.

The bulk of this player base is made up of some of the most unusually mentally unstable individuals I've ever seen. These aren't even your average toxic players, these guys straight up gaslit themselves into their own superiority complex and what's worse is they know they're doing it most of the time. It's gotten to the point you can tell what kind of player someone is from their voice. I need to hear one sound of that wheezy croak, forced lowered pitch, monotone groan-talk voice to know the lfg run is going to be unpleasant for everyone and just dip. (I've been told by someone this is referred to as the DATTO voice) There are plenty of people who just wanna play, run whatever they want, show off creative yet mostly impractical fun builds, learn things, help and most importantly just have a fun time. There is never a moment you need to take this game any more seriously than a bad joke so just enjoy and don't let anyone get you down.

There’s a lot of toxicity in the game and sadly, this is partially Bungies fault. They want us to grind and treat the game, not as fun and a distraction, but almost as a job. Making it that way adds pressure. You aren’t just blasting through aliens and having a laugh, you’re stuck on the hamster wheel and trying to do more and more in order to satisfy the addiction. And because you need to do more you have to do it faster, and be more efficient, and when your team mates aren’t as good or as quick or you find someone asking a question that you consider dumb, then you lash out and become a toxic player. I have no time for toxicity. People have forgotten that is is a game and have imbued it with far more importance than it deserves. I don’t want ti treat it as work, I just want to shoot aliens, test weapons, let off some steam, not criticise others or be a toxic fool because I think the game owes me. I’m here to play and help others if I can. Revive them, assist them, not be an -blam!- and just chill, always remembering that keyboard warriors who spew toxic comments have caused some people immeasurable pain which has resulted in loss of life. I don’t want that on my conscience. Honestly, the worlds in a bad enough state without video games and their forums being platforms for abuse. Games should be fun, not something you’re scared to play in case someone nasty has a go at you.

Dude, I put a post on the help section today about a bug that means I can't progress, I didn't rant, it was small, precise, & to the point. I got 0 replies, I did however get a good few downvotes, in a help section, flooded with ranty toxic complaints. Do people not have lives?

Embarrassed? We’re talking about the gaming community, especially hardcore gamers. Most of them hardly care about their health, what makes you think they’re capable of being embarrassed for being a Karen on a video game?

I politely messaged a guy today during Deep Dive to ask him to come to where myself and the other Guardian were standing to activate the Toland icon for better rewards. Got a tonne of abuse in reply. It takes a real muppet to get angry about something that benefits them. -
100% bro. me and my clanmates rarely foray into lfg territory, i'm the only one who does so regularly, and even then i put weird qualifiers that have nothing to do with the game and everything to do with who they are as people in my lfg ads because i seriously do not want to deal with the too-large percentage of folk who are the unfortunate poster child for the "basement dwelling, hateful, trollish gamer" stereotype.

Yes, I agree that rift should be vaulted forever, never to see the light of day again.

Izunial91により編集済み: 5/28/2023 9:08:58 AMI personally see no gain in being toxic to others. Where does it get them being toxic to someone? What do they achieve by being toxic? I wish many players had the decency to realise that it's all just a game, no need to be hurtful to those they play with.

Noticed that a while back. Twas about the time I became a "Fun Main". If they are going to be toxic anyway might as well have fun about your play style and just use fun stuff. Does it do damage? Is it optimal? idk, but its fun!

I always wonder if the way those type of people act in a video game is a reflection of who they are in reality….

Leave this forum. Wveryone here are more than toxic. Reddit forums are a bit better

Games not woke enough for me. I wanna see some bedroom action will Osiris and St. 14. Enough virtue signaling get down with it!

The toxicity goes both ways and just makes it all bad. If an LFG says to bring rockets and KWTD, and you show up with an LMG and only know add clear, you can't then get an attitude when they call you out on it and boot you. There's only so many times you can set up a KWTD lfg and be joined by people who've never done anything but add clear before you just start kicking people for not knowing their stuff.

Mara Sovereignにより編集済み: 5/27/2023 4:51:32 PMDo you really expect sanity from players in a game that attracts, feeds and seeds their pathological beast? In the old days at D1 guardians would seek out those to friend and help on the reg. In all my hours at D2 that's happened once, and not even at the game, but here with Jonty 28 who offers to help with GMs. Players here are prone to the usual manifestations of those with narcissistic, dissociative and sociopathic personality disorders, and a major reason I don't waste time on it anymore.

JacksonMSBにより編集済み: 5/28/2023 5:33:17 AMMy tips for avoiding toxic people in Destiny: #1. Choose Wisely > Never join an LFG with the words "kick" or "quick" or "fast" in the title #2. Be honest > never join a KWTD LFG if you don't know what to do! #3.Pick your battles > You're going to encounter 'sweats'. Bless them and move on. #4. Do your part > learn the mechanics ie: make public events heroic (so you don't annoy ppl) #5. Friend ppl who are chill & never friend ppl who aren't. You can't expect to avoid toxicity. It's everywhere. Not just Destiny. Some people, who have too much skin in the game, think being good at Destiny makes them 'special'. It doesn't, or at least, not in the way they think but that's their journey. Be better than them and be the player you want to play with.
