Yep, another post about difficulty. Hear me out.
I have been struggling to enjoy this game since Season of Plunder. Season of the seraph's seasonal activity was difficult to the point it wasn't worth playing, but at least me and whatever team I was matched with could grind our way through it and eventually win. The legendary exotic mission was hard, but doable.
This season knocked me down. I can do the seasonal activity, but the legendary exotic mission Avalon and campaign have finally outdone me. I research builds, listen to guides, try to improve armor, but it's not enough. I watch the guides for these things, and I see players with insta-charge abilities, seemingly instant super, taking multiple enemy hits and shrugging it off. I replicate the build and stats as best I can, promptly die in 2 hits. Ability cooldowns seemingly unchanged.
The worst feeling in the game for me is failing at an activity for 3 hours, then having to finally call it and leave empty handed. Even worse when you are so thoroughly outgunned you can't see a way forward. Worst of all, when you finally give LFG a chance, the team fails for 3 hours, everyone leaves empty handed, and I feel as if my lack of skill destroyed someone else's good time. My apologies to those guys that grouped with me for that Avalon run, wish it could have ended better.
I've never had a video game make me feel so low, these things used to be a source of peace and fun.
I know other players have been needing a harder Destiny for a long time, I want them to have the challenges they enjoy. I just don't want the devs to lock a majority of the game and exotics behind max-skill activities. I miss goofing my way through activities with other Guardians, dying in hilarious ways worthy of highlights reels. Ketchcrash was the perfect example of that kind of fun. Now it feels as if I'm being strung along by a perfectionist, "oh, someone made a single mistake? WIPE THE GROUP, NO CHECKPOINTS, BACK TO BEGINNING".
Weird thing is, I can fail at other games but still have a goofy time. Destiny 2 is the only game where I feel like trash for failing, and that didn't start until recently. I miss goofy fun.
Things that could help:
- allow other means of farming exotics besides Legend Lost Sectors. Vex Incursions were a great idea, but no one has ever seen an incursion. Those who say they have are lying.
- "story mode" raids. Have a single player raid mode to see the story and bosses, tuned way down low, rewards not necessary. This is to see the story and mechanics, collect lore, see the sights the devs worked so hard on, and to possibly foster more player's interest in raiding.
- "story mode" dungeons. See above.
- more things for less skilled players to do, challenges they can do to get better without a team. No one likes to be the one who drags down others.

I will say this about Season of Plunder. The new Nightfall modifiers- Lightning Crystals, in particular- had just come out. And, that was GRENADE NIGHT!!!! My fireteam and I had SOOO much fun with that. Storm Grenades everywhere! OMG, I look back on the amount of fun that was and, yeah, good times. Sadly now with the nerfs to Storm Grenades and Touch of Thunder, with how Nightfall Difficulty has been adjusted, those times are a memory.

when doing normal story missions is easier than patrols, you know something went wrong. the biggest problem Bungie has (since D1) is not having OPTIONS so everyone can enjoy the game as everyone wants, not as Bungie forces us to play it.

1 返信I can do everything, but the fun is gone. If I have to sweat - that kills all the fun for me. They can do whatever they want however, but so can we. Haven't preordered anything and if the game remains a slog, I'll just play sth else. I just checked my playtime and during WQ I played 2x more than during LF, and almost half of that time is pvp, while I haven't played pvp during WQ at all. They pretty much ruined everything pve for me...
-
It can be frustrating to feel like you're hurting your team. The good news is that there are plenty of people who don't sweat it. I'd suggest trying The100.io. You join groups that play together all the time. You can find people near your skill level to strive with. Most groups include sherpas who will show you how to successfully complete activities. Destiny has a fantastic community but sometimes it's a little hard to find it.

The problem is that any changes Bungle might make cost money. They watch the player numbers and the cash flow. If they are within acceptable limits then they just ignore any feedback. You can tell by the TWABs what their attitude is. Negative feedback, ramp up the sales pitch and make big promises about next season.

Completely agree but I actually got the titan exotic legs after a vex incursion. I’m wearing them now and haven’t completed a legendary lost sector in months. So, it can happen, I had no idea it was happening when it did, and feel strangely irritated it did happen. It should have been far more clear what was happening. I was shocked. I’ve never been very good at this game- never completed a dungeon or raid, suck at pvp, and can only manage to keep pace in nightfalls. Avalon- no way. Not even close. Had to cheese the campaign’s end. I’ll be a 7 forever so I’m just waiting for the next game to come out. Gl all.

There is a bot that will ping you when it is live. or join the discord directly: https://discord.com/invite/isavexincursionhappening I literally see these events happening 3-5x a day as long as its not the overlap zone. Find a clan that offers sherpa activities. A lot of end game is really just about knowing how encounters work, what triggers spawns, and where to stand, what enemies are priorities for each encounter and how to 'work a room'. Good luck.

3 通の返信Hard disagree. With all the poor things that have come with LF, the action game play (difficulty tuning in PvE) has been one of the best improvements to this game since the game improvements made in Forsaken. And prior to that, the game hasn't been this fun since D1. I think the people complaining about this game being too hard for them to play now should do the following: Admit you're in the minority - you can clearly see the amount of engagement these posts get by comparison to the amounts of engagement popular posts get. Consider that not all hobbies can be dominated by every human - No matter how hard some people try to be good at basketball, they will never make a 3-point shot. No matter how hard some people try to be good at Destiny 2, they will never complete some of it's harder content. And that's okay. It's not the fault of basketball or Destiny 2 that you can't compete with some of the talented players blessed with skills. Consider the developers at Bungie don't want to make a game that is so easily dominated by the majority of players. They want to make a game that you have to invest into it's game systems & develop your skills. Not every game developer wishes to make these types of games, but some artist do want to make this type of game.

Game can be pretty tough. As for builds, check out plunderthabooty, gmeiners and mactics. The important thing is to exactly replicate the build, not just some of it. Every single choice the build crafter makes is important. What class do you play?

Dominator of Oatsにより編集済み: 5/3/2023 2:21:07 AMBasically anything above Legend and including legend sometimes is just really not built for Destiny. It just stops feeling like Destiny and feels like some other game. And I like difficult content, Darktide is a difficult game but I enjoy it. Nothing feels insanely stupid or unfair, everything is clear and well telegraphed for the most part. Destiny is just plain bad at scaling up difficulty. I think it’s fine if people want to play harder difficulties but when it’s a requirement to get basic things like a minor perk on an exotic glaive, it’s like, what are you doing, man? What are you doing? GMs having adept mods and Wendigo and all that, fine. But this is just an exotic mission for a glaive. I got all the revision zero catalysts solo and it wasn’t easy but I felt very capable of doing it. I hated Avalon on legendary as a solo, two man and three man activity. It’s just so disappointing.

John Destiny 2 Final Shapeにより編集済み: 5/3/2023 2:45:03 AMThe story mode raid sounds really nice, I think that this would be cool but i dont know if i can 100% agree. In the past I also sucked raiding, now days I still suck but hey i have the vex mythoclast + 50 VOG completions. On one hand, there is so many places beautifully crafted but most of the time you are running like a madman because of the team want just to finish the thing and everyone is talking so you cant listen to the lore Overhaul, i think that they could do something + yeah, you should not get loot for doing that, loot i think that should be the 6 man raid only. I do like the gatekeep on this. Not everyone should receive the best loot, you need to learn ---- Dungeons already can be soloed, and most of them are easy wen you lean the encounter, so I disagree with this point --- more things for less skilled players to do? The best place to start is with the Vanguard playlist, start with the legendary, play GM and you will learn. Don't overplay either, use the weekly rotation for the variety. The art they do is really fun

1 返信I don’t like the revive limits in any activity bar GMs. Raids and legend content shouldn’t have revive limits. Let people clutch it. Don’t have a wipe timer.

Forget the guides, use strand titan with the new exotic boots. Grab a chill clip fusion primary, void pulse, and leviathons breath. Focus your mods and artifact for void weapon destruction and void siphon. Use better already mod on your boots and always make your way towards all the orbs you create. Win You have all 3 champions covered, some with multiple ways too.

Then maybe I could do LFG and know what I’m doing

This is to see the story and mechanics, collect lore, see the sights the devs worked so hard on, and to possibly foster more player's interest in raiding.
I hope you don't see this as elitism, but such an idea isn't going to work. It might seem like all you need to do is reduce boss health, remove timers, simplify mechanics etc, but many encounters have too many things going on for them to be condensed into something that one person can do while still getting a realistic understanding of how it works. Take Golgoroth from King's Fall as an example. You need two people to manage his Gaze, everyone else is doing damage, creating the goop pools and watching out for the Unstable Light debuff. The boss is immune to damage from the player that currently has the Gaze, so it's not possible to do both at once. If you were doing damage solo, you'd always get the Unstable Light debuff but never be introduced to the fact that it kills your nearby teammates because you don't have any. If it's not possible to fail a damage phase by any means other than dying, then the Tablet of Ruin wipe mechanic is never in play. I hope you can see what I'm getting at. While I can't deny that becoming familiar with the boss, the arena, the enemy spawns etc is beneficial, it is just as hard to teach someone who knows nothing as it is to teach someone who has previously been taught the wrong stuff.
- "story mode" dungeons. See above. - more things for less skilled players to do, challenges they can do to get better without a team. No one likes to be the one who drags down others.
These two tie into one another. Dungeons are already made to be possible solo, and they are difficult to do that way. If you want to complete one, then less-skilled players will have to improve. Doing the Dungeon will force them to change their approach, it will instil the ability to manage enemy spawns and priority targets and have them demonstrate at least a competence at dealing with mechanics and combat at the same time. I can understand your reluctance to use LFG and the pressure that it feels like it comes with, but if you make it clear that you want to learn then there is a crowd out there who will help you and not be judgmental of any mistakes you make. In Dungeons, you could genuinely be dead weight and it won't affect the team's chances of completing it.

Vex Incursions do happen and I just got my Warlock boots from it. I was getting ready to do the LS and just went to Neomuna to kill some time before the reset. And lo and behold - the incursion was just about to kick off.

If you are running solar titan, for the most part, you should be running synthoceps. Heart of inmost light is not that great for solar. You arent going to have instant grenades with that build but if you use melee kills create orbs, siphon matching your main primary and grenade energy on orb pickup plus the class item mod for grenade energy on barricade you will have them quite a lot. If you kill something with your little hammer and pick up back up you have restoration. You will also make sunspots everywhere. You can keep this going indefinitely and survive A LOT. It carried me through the whole legendary campaign even the Calus fight everyone said was so insanely hard. Now if you want a grenade build try ashen wake. Put on fusion grenades and the aspect where you get healed from grenade kills. Use those grenades, an incandescent trace rifle(i would use promethius lense personally) plus your little hammer and you can blow everything up. If you kill a few red bar enemies or one yellow bar with your grenade you will have it back instantly. With roaring flames X3 you will be dishing out loads of damage. Plus you still have sunspots everywhere and access to the restoration from picking up the hammer after a kill. There are also a lot of great void and strand titan builds. Arc can be fun too but I feel like it doesn't have as much survivability as the others. Equipping the aspects, fragments, mods and exotics is only part of it. Most builds have a gameplay loop that keeps you alive, buffs your damage, and recharges abilities. You have to learn how to use it properly. To get that flow started and keep it going.

I sympathize with players who are finding the game to hard but you basically killed my agreement with wanting weaker versions of raids and dungeons. They can’t be made playable for lower skilled players without basically killing the mechanics which are the fun part of raids and dungeons. And there’s no good reason for Bungie to make two separate forms of mechanics. So either they make no easy mode or they make raids have laughably easy mechanics even on full difficulty, ruining the activity. Those activities are like trials. They aren’t for everyone and really shouldn’t be. The reality is I’m not sure what really the game can do for you when it comes to difficulty. If you were struggling with the seasonal activity last season I don’t know if even reversing the difficulty changes they made will help you much. I don’t know how they could make an activity to help you get better when you already have things like the seasonal activity’s base difficulty and vanguard ops which are still pretty easy activities and easy places to practice aim, movement, and general game skills. And by base difficulty I mean the ones that can be found on the destination, not the playlists.
