You're not the only one. Weirdly enough, I found setting a low-ish frame rate cap really helped (around 60fps seems to work. but I had to fiddle with it). Hopefully this gets noticed soon.

I too am experiencing some kind of frame drop or micro stuttering and it is driving me mad; it sees like every 3 to 5 seconds there is a small "PAUSE" in the FPS and to my eyes that have been gaming on a various high refresh rate monitors for years now it is painfully obvious that something is off. Current CPU: Intel Core i7-13700k / GPU: RTX 4090; it's a new PC build and for the life of me I can't figure out why Destiny is performing the way it is. My monitor is a 1440p, 144hz, 1ms LG gaming monitor. Only thing that seems to remotely fix the issue is to verify the game files or uninstall the game only to reinstall and after a few days the weird frame drop starts again. Like you both, hoping something is done soon as it really does damper the entire playing experience. Forgot to add to the end of this; to any of the kind Bungie folks who are looking into PC related performance issues, thanks for sleuthing this one out and hopefully a patch / performance pass on the game will help. Heck, this could just the latest Nvidia driver's having issues of their own too; I'm on their most current for reference. Thanks, Jon

  • There's a theory that, since it only seems to be more modern GPUs that are affected, it's due to the game not being properly optimised for newer tech. I never had this issue on my old 1080, but my 3080 is really struggling. And yeah, the number of times I've died or missed shots because the games decides to go into slow motion for a second it quite frustrating.

I feel your pain; was just toying around in Iron Banner and that weird frame hitch, if that's what I can call it, just throws off your aim something fierce. Like someone else said, I am glad that I am not alone on this, but it is also disheartening if that theory pans that about newer-ish GPUs being effected by this. Again, theories be theories, but I have suffered through some odd performance issues in years past, and even the dreaded connection issues from the pirate season where a lot of people were getting "contacting" the servers alerts repeatedly. This frame hitch I would say is a bit more cumbersome than connection issues for me in the grand scheme of things, as it just hampers the enjoyment / focus it takes to play quite a bit. Ha, that's my TED Talk on this, and I will keep my fingers crossed for some kind of help in the coming weeks.

Adding to this: tonight's Iron Banner play sessions were a jittery mess; again, it's hard to fathom why my PC would be performing this way, that said, as soon as I left Iron Banner and returned to the tower, performance seemed to stabilize. Even on Neomuna for a quick Terminal Overload things seemed to be running fine with the refresh rate / FPS from what I could tell. The odd part is that PVE will get hit by this weird jitteriness too and none of this was present on this PC last season; this is all a new development which again leads me to believe it could indeed be something with the latest Nvidia Driver or potentially D2 / Lightfall itself. Not sure what the maintenance tomorrow is going to fully address, but I will keep my fingers crossed that it may address some of the performance in-game. If not, I remain patient, and thankful, that it will get rectified eventually.

Update 3/23/23: With a new Nvidia driver released today as well as the maintenance time for D2, the game is running flawlessly this evening. Going to watch closely for performance degradation over the next day or so, but for right now, Iron Banner is feeling great and there are no dropped frames.

Update 3/24/23: Eh, I guess it was too good to be true, as the game now has a light stuttering again. Currently in the tower but was noticing it during the Iron Banner matches I was just playing. Still not sure what's causing the performance degradation as there is nothing else running besides Destiny 2. Anybody else here still experiencing this? I was hoping the Nvidia driver release yesterday along with the maintenance work would do the trick, but it's not quite there yet. If any moderators or folks at Bungie see this, I am kind of at a loss with what to do - any guidance would be exceedingly appreciated. Thank you in advance if at all possible! Regards, Jon

Believe me, I’m in the same boat, and empathize with you on this. I was running night falls with a couple friends last night and moments of those runs were so bad it almost felt like I was watching a slideshow for how bad the drops were. Again, remaining hopeful this will all be addressed in time.
