How much of the Lightfall reaction is down to the hype train?
People could have waited one or two days after launch to see what they were buying. I understand that people like to get hyped up for new content, but there’s never a guarantee you’ll get everything you wanted. A preorder is always a gamble.
Or maybe people just like the forum drama? Hype it up, then burn it down!
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Anyway, here’s my reaction to Lightfall so far:
I’m about halfway through the campaign. I’m really enjoying the missions and I love the Tormentors - it’s great to have a scary enemy. Calus is such a pompous, wrinkly gasbag, I can’t wait to pop him.
The story and dialogue holding everything together is very meh (it’s always been hit or miss for me, so I wasn’t that surprised).
Neomuna is okay in places, but probably one of my least favourite Destiny locations (although I really like Calus’s ship). It feels a bit mish-mash to me and not as visually crisp as other locations. Probably my biggest disappointment.
Loadouts are a welcome addition, although I wish we had all 10 without having to unlock them (I want to make a PvE and a PvP loadout for each subclass).
Strand is amazing - I absolutely love the grappling hook! I can’t wait to complete the campaign so I can make it my main subclass and replay old content, using this new movement mechanic. It’s massively reignited my interest in PvE (I’m a PvP main).
Overall, I’d say it’s a fairly average DLC, but with a new movement mechanic that shakes up the whole game. I’m having fun. 👍
Yah pretty much what I think. I certainly had fun with the campaign, and I'm looking forward to seeing what we can do with strand.
Bungie are clearing giving the seasons more impact. And not giving all the big hits in the campaigns.
I think that is a good choice.
If I look at destiny overall right now, I think it's in a good place.
