We defeat Calus and brambles explode out of him. Caiatl rushes into the room, hammer raised. Seeing the sad remnants of Calus before her, she lowers her hammer and walks towards him.
Calus, mortally wounded, coughs and says, “Ah, Caiatl. More beautiful than any star.”
“Rest now father,” Caiatl says softly, resting her hand on his side.
The scene becomes a wide shot with your guardian looking on. Nimbus silently zips in beside you and grabs his board.
“Is it over?” he asks. Your guardian nods but ghost starts to drift to the middle of the platform unnoticed by the others.
Osiris crackles in your ear, “Get -st ou- - -ere!” Ghost starts buzzing with the darkness energy again and begins to project beams of light as if he’s going to resurrect you after a death. But the beams are much larger than normal, right under The Veil.
Osiris again, “Get ghost out of there! The Veil is a doorway into the Traveler! You can’t let -“
He is cut off by a sudden darkening of the room and a burst of static. Ghost has transmitted the Witness into the room.
He is massive and he is looking up at the Veil, “Finally.”
There is a moment of quiet, the peace before the storm. Ghost falls to the floor with a clang. Nimbus acts first, yelling and flying towards the Witness before you can stop him, firing rockets with fists raised. The Witness mildly gestures. Nimbus is violently thrown across the room and crashes hard into a wall, falling limply, his board slamming into your guardian pinning you.
Caiatl moves silently from her fathers side and leaps, hammer held high in one hand, letting out a roar only when she is sure to land a blow.
Another gesture from the Witness but this time Caiatl simply freezes in mid air. The Witness turns from The Veil to look at her.
“No more pain. I will save you”
Caiatl’s hammer begins to deconstruct into pyramids slowly floating upward. Then Caiatl’s hand begins to deconstruct in the same way. Then her arm.
Suddenly, she pushed away by purple energy as Calus bellows, “No!”. Somehow he freed his arm from the bramble and had forced her away with the last of his energy.
The Witness looks at Calus unaffected by the recent development, “Another fallen disciple. You served well though.”
Then, with the most imperceptible look of cruelty, the Witness says, “Rest now.” And with that, Calus disintegrates into pyramids, falling through the Bramble.
Finally, the Witness looks at our Guardian, still struggling under Nimbus’s board, “The Universe makes us all victim… and perpetrator. I am your salvation.”
He turns away and looks up at the Veil, “You, more than any, suffer both fates. Be free.” Slowly he glides into the Veil.
Ghost turns back on and floats over to your Guardian, “What happened?”
After a moment, your guardian replies, “We lost.”
Transitioning back to the helm, Zavala, Ikora, Stranger, and Mara look out at the Traveler. A beam of light emerges from within, cutting out a massive triangle in its surface. The space within becomes a slurry of vibrant energy. The Pyramid ships are pulled in.
Then, after a moment, the Traveler pops out of existence, sending out a wave of blistering energy. Zavala and company duck as the wave crashes into The HELM.
Standing up again Zavala checks on the others and then says “What just happened?”
From the shadows, a dark figure emerges. “Well I sure as hell don’t know,” says the Drifter with his characteristic smirk, “But I think I might know someone who just might. I mean she got me into this invite-only party after all.” He smiles devilishly and looks to his right. The space shimmers for a moment and then the emissary of The Nine glides forward emotionlessly.
The Camera jumps back to a wide shot of the scene, then one of the HELM, finally one of Earth and the emptiness of space where the Traveler should be.
So this is just my idea and I’m by no means a writer or loremaster. There would certainly have to be some dialogue changes to the quests afterwards but this would explain why Zavala/Ikora said the Traveler was gone. Plus there would have to be an explanation for why we still have the light. But this is closer to the ending that I was hoping for with Lightfall. Thanks for reading.

2 通の返信How it really should've ended: We beat calus, he turns into a tree. Ghost gets possessed and transmits the witness to us. Nimbus says: "It's cloudstriding time" And gets instantly disintegrated. Then witness then says: "I guess that was just their Destiny 2: Lightfall" and fistbumps guardian. Roll credits

I blame Osiris as to why the witness won, he knew the witness needed the ghost, but literally waited to the last second to tell us to keep our ghost away. Osiris many seasons ago called out the warmind asking what side he’s on and I think Osiris is working with the witness.

How it should have ended: Witness gestures his hand and Nimbus gets sliced to pieces like the guardians at the beginning. I shoot the pieces with my Telesto and the remains explode in a brilliant flash of void light. The Witness nods in approval and I become the next Disciple. Mara shows up and confesses her love for me. So does the Emissary and so does Savathun. My guardian creates a Throneworld and lives happily ever after while the Witness destroys everything else.

3 通の返信No, Light Fall should have been part of what the Final Shape is going to be but they didn’t want to wait that long so they shoe horned a filler expansion in. WQ should have been further delayed for Strand and Light Fall should have dropped next year.

1 返信The part where our ghost got possessed, I think we should of used strand to try and grab our ghost from the veil. Instead of our first reaction being. "lets light up my little buddy who's saved us countless time's with this khvostov i pulled out of my -blam!- that was used to trick people into thinking the exotic was returning.

5 通の返信I don't know man, I think Nimbus going in to fist bump someone who's father just died is much better writing. /sarcasm

4 通の返信A good read, I genuinely enjoyed it. The only thing I will point out, despite what seems to be a common sentiment on other posts, is that Lightfall isn't over. Whether the story THUS FAR is underwhelming or not, it's by no means the end yet. Planty more time left for the story to grow. On a side note, don't short yourself, this was solid storytelling in my opinion.

To be honest I don't think the witness would care if calus is dead he didn't choose him as a disciple but more of a messenger. It was calus who wanted to be a disciple because he wanted to live forever and see the end but still keep his joys and celebrations it was calus who bags the witness to be a disciple.
