Bungie, help me understand the thought process here.

So over the course of the recent blogs this is what we’re looking at changes wise for the next year. - everything is getting harder - ability regen is getting nerfed - we can’t over level for anything(except lost sectors which most people don’t like to farm) because everything caps us - no increase in rewards, in fact it’s more like a decrease because we will see less crafting and dungeons still won’t see focusing - we’re getting loadouts and you say you want to lean into buildcrafting but now we have all these new things that dictate them with surges/threats and overcharged weapons rotating daily or weekly So we’re getting harder content for no increase in rewards and after the launch season we will see even less player control for targeting desired rolls because less will be craftable, and also what looks like less build control due to new modifiers? “Master experience closer to day-one raids” ^ Who asked for that? ^ Two things: 1: What even is the point of gear score at this point? 2: How does more challenging + no increase in rewards or even less rewarding = a better experience? I’m legitimately confused on the thought process here. Please explain how you arrived at this being the best possible path moving forward.

  • Bungie: It’s simple. We put less content but make it harder to seem like it’s actually more. Certain streamers said it’s too easy and they provide us with free advertising so 0.01% > average player.

    • Usually I'm with whatever trashes Bungie, but the community is acting like complete snowflakes over this issue. I can understand being slightly upset that the rewards aren't getting better. I mean It's not like the game doesn't rain exotics on the guardian for simply breathing in this game, what more loot do you want? Anyway.. the main issue I have with this outrage is.. why be upset that the game is being balanced to be more difficult in pve? Vanguard strikes were so piss easy and boring that I flat out refused to do them when I actively played this game because it simply was not fun. You were never threatened by the enemy to the point were the architect was your biggest opposition. Outside of endgame content, pve was a complete joke. You would think that raising the difficulty level a bit would make people welcome the challenge and make pve content more engaging and enjoyable like it apparently did with Witch Queen's campaign.

      • New content is “ too hard” for Bungie … old content made harder is considered “ new” content … that about sums it up. It’s just reselling the game to players for the “ insert number” time again with the very transparent excuse of “ players” wanting more challenges.

        • I'm just glad I got Kingslayer and Conqueror this season, it sounds like "Master" raid and GMs will be even more miserable going forward.

          • I'm done, and if Bungie does a 180 in the future I'm not biting again. They've shown their hand too many times now, catering to the streamers. I want a game driven by the passion for players, not one that gives everything it can to streamers because the CEO is so heavily driven by his old influencer system that he refuses to see streamers really are a byproduct in the gaming world.

            • day 1 raid as nightfalls? time to quit destiny. lost sectors not rewarding enough --> increased difficulty - bungo moment no rewards for harder content. ability regen nerf because of pvp crybabies and bungie unable to seperate nerfs from pve.

              • I'm surprised people aren't asking Bungie for participation rewards. This community is a joke. Do your thing Bungie and don't listen to these idiots in your community crying about difficulty.

              • It was mostly because of Witch Queen having a Master Mode so when Bungie saw the we like it phase they turn it into "Its officially a thing in the game" for Witch Queen to be honest didn't give you those best rewards unless that's what you started with but people will play the lowest mode to see what they are up against than do the harder mode. Bungie using something most games do before completely shutting down server for certain games "Experimental data" Even than some company's old games gets updates from the community itself, and has people making servers still live even though the company doesn't entirely own the server anymore they still able to monitor their games for those who play it. Bungie is doing that but for Destiny 2 since its basically reaching its old age at this point with Light Fall, and the last DLC being its basic final story chapters. Once they have all this data than whatever they collected will go into the Live Service games they are making for Sony.

                      They really need to stop thinking their top 5 streamers represent all of the people playing this damn game, literally nobody asked for harder content without bumping up the reward structure first. They would've been better off just getting rid of the pinnacle system since the gear score doesn't matter and that way people who out level basic strikes no longer have to do them, leave the difficulty alone and let people run them solo. There's no benefit to running them, making them slightly more difficult isn't making people want to do them, you'll have the opposite effect.

I didn’t see anything in the blogs that said there would be no changes to awards. Rewards were not really addressed - apples and oranges. Saved loadouts are one thing. Builds versus modifiers and burns is another. Community has clamored for loadouts. Valid point that rotating burns and such will likely dictate the meta - the day 1 raid thing is also something that’s been widely criticized, the loudest being the gamers that routinely compete for worlds first (not so much the rest of us)

                        • Honestly I like the difficulty increase. But them trying to control our loadouts is the most annoying -blam!- ever. Designating different champion weapons for each season is fine. Especially now that we have new ways to stun them. But don't tell me that my subclass will be inefficient in high level content if I don't choose the right element. Just annoying af.

                        • This is such a ridiculous & entitled take. Bungie has progressively nerf'd this franchise for years & are now bring the game back in line with the difficulty it was known for. With build crafting - the content is still going to be a cake walk. This user & users like this are simply intimidated that they may have to put forth some effort to get master tier rewards now. Master is the hard tier for the content - it's supposed to be hard. Sorry to hear you're upset, but I'm happy the game is moving back to it's roots. Just because the game has been nerf'd into the ground & bungie is bring the content back in line doesn't mean you're owed anything or that the content needs to over reward you for what you achieved. A legendary nightfall is still bottom mid level content that is EASY, & thus will only reward a mid reward.

                        • Yeah. I wondering if we are going to see a considerate increase in drop rates or double/triple the desired loot. The grind is getting to be a bit much..the gambling at the every level. The juice doesn't always feel worth the squeeze.

                          I'm with you here.. having read the article I don't understand how they've decided these are the changes that are best.. now power level does nothing but lock you out of activities. They've basically made it pointless to run arc or stasis. They're dictating the best load outs worse than ever.. and removing match game?!? It's not being removed at all. Now it's being applied across the whole game! What's the point?

                                Like to point out that they said in the VIDoc "we want destiny players to feel like the tip of the spear"..... How exactly does these changes make us feel like that?! What exactly are you calling a spear these days? Is it a butter knife duct taped to the end of a stick or something? I mean seriously come on! Wait I get it.... We are supposed to feel more like we are bringing a knife to a gun fight
