Was looking at the steam deck as per my other thread, then decided I would need a second screen since I’m am blind. Was browsing and found this mfer https://amzn.eu/d/70S8R73 and contemplated for a full second buying this and a series s. Then whatever voice of reason I have left kicked in and said “just buy a -blam!- laptop you absolute spoon!”
So here we are.
I got an ASUS Tuf 17” with an RTX 3060 and intel i7-11800H and a 1TB SSD
Seemed reasonable for £999, not that i have the foggiest so please feel free to laugh in my face.
Also is the least ‘gamer’y that I could find. Dell do some nicely spec’d sleek things but I’m not dropping 2K on a laptop thanks but no thanks.
Review after a couple days:
Screen is fine, definitely not OLED category though I didn’t expect as much.
Speakers are dogshit.
Runs the new Lego Star Wars flawlessly so is as powerful as I need it to be at the moment.
Yes, I’m sure you could build a better desktop for less, but portability is more important for me.

I’ve been pricing laptops here for an audio project (isn’t as resource intensive as gaming, but close) and every one I could find that was sufficiently spec’ed was at least $1500. Edit: just looked up the exchange rate, it’s 1.23 to 1. So that is a VERY good price….

Recommend you visit User Benchmark before you load it up to get some baseline numbers and then run tests & compare numbers periodically to keep on top of performance.

That's actually a bang up price for a laptop of that quality... Where did you get it from?
