I’m not doing this to go against the grain, this is truly my take. My favorite PvP game mode is rift. As a side note: I also enjoyed the last iron banner more than almost any other iron banner in D2. The push for the center capture point (although chaotic and littered with Titan barricades and ability spam) was a fun and broken take at a goofy and entertaining objective. Why? It’s simple. I haven’t gotten any entertainment from “Team Deathmatch” style PvP game modes since 2007.
It seems like a large number of D2 players (or at least the loudest and most outspoken players) are completely content with nothing but “Team Deathmatch” game modes. “If the game mode requires anything other than slaying out and getting more kills than the other team, I’m not interested” is the mentality that I picture when I read all of the PvP feedback. I don’t share this mentality.
I was PvPing in first person shooters back in the early to mid 2000’s. I can honestly say that I was burned out on TDM style game modes pretty quickly. I have no desire to wear my KD on my sleeve and I’m certainly bored of “get x # of kills to win” games, but I certainly enjoy a good competition with an interesting objective. I’m here to have fun, not flex my skills on other people. Rift is the closest thing I have to that in Destiny, and I’m going to kindly ask all of the TDM lovers to consider that there are players with different interests in destiny. You have a hell of a lot of game modes in Destiny that play like TDM…I think you can afford to let the objective game mode players have their fun, especially when we literally have 1 fun objective game mode in the entire game.
Additional note:
I believe a supreme focus on “balance” in PvP games is not always a necessity. I understand that a large number of players are here to test their skills and prove to others that they are the elite, and game balance is undoubtedly a requirement for you to prove for certain that you are unquestionably an absolute demon at dominating your competition. However, some people want to simply have fun. Balance doesn’t always equal fun (as we saw in year 1 of D2). There are times when you can let your hair down and just enjoy the wacky nuances of open world PvP or goofy objective modes that favor certain builds or play styles. Just something to consider.
1 返信We need more fun game modes. Bring back d1’s big team battle and add more things like team scorched. Add in a relic war that starts you with swords and by capping objectives you can switch to things like the aegis or eye of riven

1 返信Completely agree, 3v3 rift is one of the best iterations of pvp I’ve played in quite a while. Blink dominates when spark carrying.

It’s been really bad today ! Have had the same 3-4 farmers in my lobby . Tons of people leaving either right at the start or near end if kd is crap ! I just feel so sorry for people that take this game that seriously and are only focused on stats not fun ! Sad. Video games are to be fun ! Too many people invest emotionally and let the game control them .

Posts praising game modes not based on killing in an FPS, constant whines about not enough OHK abilities, destiny really is in a league of its own when it comes to players wanting to not actually PvP in PvP, bungie should just bring back sparrow racing so casual players can get their crucible pinnacles each week and stop attempting to destroy crucible in an attempt to appease and draw players back who don’t like shooting in an FPS.

3 通の返信My main PvP take is that it needs its own sandbox. Fully removed from PvE. The two just impact each other negatively and I dont feel they can be reconciled.

I feel the same way. I can't stand TDM modes anymore and tend to stick to objective modes or games that are objective based, like Overwatch. I don't really care for Rift, but the IB this season is actually fun. It's a shame Bungie did what Bungie does and ruined that fun by making the grind for the gear way too much. We'll see how they've fixed it next time though.

3 通の返信I am so thankful I found someone with the same mindset as me, to be honest I started gaming in late 2005 (I was born in the 2000's myself) when playing PvP games I was doing it to hopefully get good, and enjoy myself. Now years gone by with me listen to everyone's same speech about PvP "Get x # of Kills, and x # of wins" Hell its gotten so bad if your not good at PvP no one is gonna team up with you because your -blam!-. I just want to have fun that's all gaming was back in the day Fun even old Bungie games had people having more fun than now. In todays world its either earn money or be bottom of the leaderboard for gaming if your game doesn't have high sells than no one is gonna be interested. (Aka what Bungie was explaining about in their 84 page essay {I see it as an essay} It sucks how gaming has evolved during the years, and I won't be surprised if gaming falls to be nothing but a life thing for Top players while us other people are actually having fun outside in the world.

Agreed. It's good to see something different other than pick up gun, kill people with it, which gets stale after a while. I like figuring out how I'm going to get an objective from a to b without getting shot to death before I do. Had some fun plays in Rift.

5 通の返信Sohsuhにより編集済み: 1/22/2023 6:58:30 AMIn every mode, KD matters the most. This is something people can't seem to grasp for some reason. How are you grabbing the spark if you're dying all the time? How are you stopping the enemy team from having the spark if you're dying all the time? How are you capping the spark if you're dying all the time? Acquiring more kills than deaths will ALWAYS, I repeat, ALWAYS be important in any game mode. Just tonight I played a game of Comp. I am in Gold 1 currently, and it gave me 2 pretty awful teammates as it always does. I knew I had to win the game by myself. I capped the spark 3 times by myself and had the best KD in the game. I went 12-7 and we won the game of Rift 3-1. I had to kill the enemy players by myself, in order to grab the spark, and then I had to kill 1 or 2 of them as they respawned in order to cap the spark. If I had a bad KD in that game, guess what? We would have lost. I wouldn't have capped anything because I would have been dead the majority of the match. Please try to understand PvP better. You aren't doing the team any favors by sprinting towards objectives and dying. You MUST get better at gunfights in ANY pvp mode. That is just a simple fact. It's a player vs player environment, and you aren't going to be doing squat if you're dead all the time.

9 通の返信I still comes down to killing each other... No matter what. Generally the team who got the most kills (dominated the map) is going to win Soooooo yeah
-
2 通の返信I like it too. Kinda reminds me of Star Wars Battlefront with the team play focus.

1 返信I’d be fine with rift replacing clash. No objective makes players play passively which kills the game.

7 通の返信Lol yup, people get mad or sad when they're told to use their brains and complete a task, same people all probably got straight C's or Ds in school being so darn unable to follow instructions that they've fried their brains into believing "point and shoot" helps them win What you're seeing there is another aspect of the globally failing education system, these kids and adults don't have the ability to retain complex information and utilise it in their day, that's why they have to pick the more simple route and entertain themselves with decades old ideas
