Osmosis Perk Rework for Light 3.0 + Stasis

Who's forgotten about this perk? If you have, let me remind the reader what it does. Throwing your grenade changes your weapon's damage type from kinetic to the element your grenade is. That is it. That is ALL. Osmosis is a 4th column Kinetic-Weapon-Exclusive perk that competes with, well, every other 4th column perk that simply offers better, whether it's more outright lethality or damage output (i.e. Multi/Kill Clip, One For All, Rampage), adclear/collat capability (i.e. Incandescent, Voltshot), utility (i.e. Eye Of The Storm, Elemental Capacitor), or some combination of the three (i.e. Firefly, Frenzy). While Osmosis technically fits under "utility", it can be so much more, especially with Light 3.0 verbs all out and release. Scorch, Ignite, Jolt, Volatile, Suppress, Weaken. Let's revisit this perk. The kinetic slot sees alot of competition with the likes of Arbalest, Bastion and Izanagi's and any kinetic primary (DMT with Fourth Times or Vorpal anyone?) in endgame PVE alongside anything that involves Champions. Now, while that is all good and all, sometimes you want to make use of those sweet Artifact Mods for your special weapons. Anti-Barrier Sniper. Unstoppable Fusions. This season it's Unstoppable Grenade Launchers, and you know wave frames and blinding GLs are definitely on the menu, and more people are likely to have an Energy GL versus a Kinetic (Ignition Code from last year) or Stasis GL (Dungeon Exclusives) for the role, especially newer blueberries out there. So you slap on that special in your energy slot, leaving you to run double special if you're confident and already on top of PVE, or running a kinetic primary for your ad clear and other champion mod to make the Nightfall or Day 1 Raid as easy on you as possible by virtue of letting you contribute the most you can to a fireteam. Just one problem though. Kinetics tend to not be the greatest at ad clear. They're very old fashioned and the best you're probably getting is a fatebringer with firefly, or using your exotic slot for the likes of DMT and Huckleberry. You are likely NOT generating ANY wells with that weapon. So you rethink your build and you just keep going to the same old stuff. Arbalest/Bastion and an energy primary of your choice for another artifact mod and all that sweet delicious ad clear and utility, from Dragonfly to Adaptive Munitions. The energy slot is simply better in every way outside of base damage output compared to the kinetic slot. This bites. But Osmosis is a perk that has the potential to open up so much more of that, it's ridiculous, and it's already on so many kinetic weapons; as a matter of fact it's on [u]a weapon in every single weapon archetype except Kinetic Bows and Grenade Launchers[/u]. It already enables a guardian right now to bring two reliable sources of solar/arc/void energy to shoot down shields in Match Game content, provided their energy weapon is a different energy type than their class. It could BE more than that lowkey utility perk, and be an ad clear perk and play into verbs, play along with the pre-existing systems (i.e. Echo of Instability for Void, Spark of Shock or Brilliance for Arc, all that Scorching and Igniting for Solar) that encourage you to throw your grenades, use your abilities, combo stuff and all that. You can use a kinetic primary and not have to give up a main source of elemental well generating in PVE. You can use a kinetic primary and be able to use whatever energy special you want or need for the situation. Give me Incandescent and Voltshot and whatever the hell you come up with for Void for it. If you're worried about it being a problem in PVP any more than those perks for example are (which they're not really) put it on a timer or something. Just please buff Osmosis. Make it DO something besides just switch the damage type on the kinetic weapon. Anything! It don't even have to be any of that -blam!- I said, you got a Weapons Team, there's certainly other interesting things you could do with it, I'm sure. You could even make it Diet Elemental Capacitor. But kinetic slot is suffering right now from the competition in PVE especially. Let your energy specials and especially your non-exotic kinetic weapons be able to breathe, compete and continue competing in some way as long as it's got the right roll for the situation. Please make this perk less of an auto-shard for alot of people. Thanks for reading.
