As much as Cross is entertaining (can’t argue much there), he often gets things wrong and his entire view of the PvP community is centered around the highest skill level.
The guy made his bread and butter destroying people in PvP with meme loadouts and weird guns. As soon as that goes away he complains that he can’t “experiment” anymore. The vast majority of the community couldn’t do that before during CBMM as 1 skilled person could turn a chill match into a sweatfest.
I don’t think SBMM is 100% a good idea, but it’s okay to try things out and try to throw lower skill players a bone every 3 years. Asking streamers to comment on it and looking to them for advice when they make up a very small and specific portion of the community is just a recipe for disaster.
Remember double primary? Yeah, that was streamers.
Remember Special ammo in crates in D1? Also streamers.
They do a lot of good for the community, but you need to take their opinions with a grain of salt.

Also double primary was great in summer of 2018 after 6v6 and the go fast update it’s just too many people left beforehand to experience it. I genuinely think summer of 2018 was the best destiny pvp ever was.

If 30% of the community is above average and they play 2x as much as casuals, you’re going to run into them more often. My last night in IB was a good example of this. I wasn’t using meta weapons, but 1/2 my matches I could still compete and do ok. Then the other half had 1 guy that destroyed everyone. People began swapping to their more tryhard loadouts to counter. This is how it goes with pure CBMM. I don’t think that time was the best either. The go fast update fixed some problems but made some as well. It’s far from the worst time in Destiny PvP but not the best. I was just pointing out things streamers lobbied for in the past that were largely hated by the community. Go fast was the result of everyone hating double primary more “gunplay focused” PvP that streamers called for.
As much as Cross is entertaining (can’t argue much there), he often gets things wrong and his entire view of the PvP community is centered around the highest skill level.
This. I like him. Enjoy much of his content. But I used to love pvp and never went to the lighthouse, Played comp solo cause i wasn't some elite player. And I hated trials. I only ever did it to occasionally get a gun type i liked. In D1 i far preferred the fun nature of iron banner over trials games. But that was me. But i feel the streamers are always pushing opinions but largely it's from that elite player perspective of people that go the the lighthouse every weekend. Hell i remember one season, i had a session playing trials for several hours and got nothing cause solo i never got to three wins. Like the next week i remember hearing a streamer talking about how rewarding the system was. I was like yeah maybe for you.
