Bungie,
As I understand it you will no longer make secret missions because data miners spoil the surprise for the rest of us.
How about, instead of not giving us secret missions(because data miners ruin it) you give us missions like whisper even despite of data miners spoiling the surprise?
Ya know?
Like OK, you guys always ruin the surprise but that's not gonna stop us from putting out cool stuff vs. You guys always ruin the surprise, so no more cool stuff.
Whether it's a 'secret' or not, we still want cool missions.
But no longer getting missions because data miners 'leak info', sounds like the game/community are being punished for the actions of a few.
It's like "OK, we were going to surprise you with a trip to Vegas this weekend, but every time we plan a secret trip to Vegas, Jimmy ruins the surprise, so were never gonna plan cool trips to Vegas ever again."
Huh?

2 通の返信I don't want to sound like I'm affected by my name-sake, but I don't buy Bungie's explanation for not working on secret missions, and yes, I feel like I could solve the "problem" in theory pretty quickly. Message me Bungie! I won't charge for the answers. I'll give it to you for "free", you just have to pay me $49.99 each year, and $10 per season from here until the end of D2's life cycle....

meatballsublimeにより編集済み: 11/14/2022 1:41:17 PMIt's kind of an empty excuse. Any software engineer knows you can merge in code when it goes to production. You don't have to drip feed merge in over a long time. Sure, data mining can still happen, but less of a risk when you don't deploy assets early. Just deploy when it is fully baked.

Jet2Holidayにより編集済み: 11/14/2022 7:47:06 PMNot to mention how dumb of an excuse that is. You don't want secrets spoiled stay away from spoiler sources. The same thing works for online harassment/bullying, bro just log off. Simple.

2 通の返信My post on a different thread that is applicable here: You do realize that the entire engineer AMA was taken out of context right? I’d suggest going and reading it. https://www.reddit.com/r/IAmA/comments/yrsffo/im_david_aldridge_head_of_engineering_at_bungie/ The post by WonderPhil92 goes on to say
So does this outright mean no more surprise missions, or just that the resources won't be spent on them to make them encrypted but they'll still exist?
The engineer replies that
Ah that’s a fair followup - it just means that thus far we haven’t decided it was worth investing in the encryption. That could change in the future, and I haven’t seen presence/absence of encryption feed into decisions on whether to make secret missions - after all we have other surprises regardless, eg narrative twists, and datamine leaks don’t make us shy away from those. :)
All this entire thing means is that we might get missions, but they won’t be hidden once the patch that contains them goes live. Just like how we could see Outbreak existed in the API once the patch with its mission dropped. People are taking this entire thing completely out of context.

Spawn Of Apathyにより編集済み: 11/14/2022 4:22:09 AMWhat I got from it was that they’re just not gonna focus on spending time and resources to make a mission secret, because they can’t hide enough right now. That doesn’t mean they’re done making extra missions. I’d say it’s more like Bungie just isn’t going to bother wrapping and hiding your Christmas presents. They’ll just set them under the tree. Your siblings can’t ruin the surprise if there is no surprise.

6 通の返信
How about, instead of not giving us secret missions(because data miners ruin it) you give us missions like whisper even despite of data miners spoiling the surprise?
In the past two years we’ve had Hawkmoon, Dead Man’s Tale and Dead Messenger for special missions that award an Exotic upon first completion, a harder difficulty variant to obtain a Catalyst and a repeatable mission structure that allowed for rerolls for two-thirds of said Exotics. So we’re already receiving “not secret” missions in the vein of Whisper and Zero Hour. The post in question was mearly explaining why they aren’t secret anymore. (΄◉◞౪◟◉`)

13 通の返信What? That’s not true at all. They never said they wouldn’t be making them anymore. This is how rumors start

26 通の返信Id like to think they would do this but it seems like dungeons are supposed to scratch this itch. Despite them costing money AND being less solo player friendly. I doubt we get one next season either. I can see this year as being a template for what is to come unless soemthing drastic changes, but im a sucker for this game so ill keep buying lol.

4 通の返信They have replaced secrets with dungeons. Be excited, and then get excited for next product.

1 返信Make something like the Exotic Hand Cannon quests like: Malfeasance, Thorn, Lumina, TLW, and Sturm. Those were fun and easy and I earned all of these in Season of Arrivals, TLW was fun, the only slightly challenging one was Thorn in the Chasm of Screams. Make earn-able exotics that aren't secret quests or random roll crap and that are easily obtainable if you play the basics like make some of the quests have to get x amount of crucible kills like Thorn, those were good times.
-
It is a funny excuse considering the VAST majority are watching videos on how to do said secrets before even just trying anyways. The only ones actually surprised are the like random top 100 players who make YouTube videos. The rest of us experience most of these surprises well after the fact.

maxにより編集済み: 11/13/2022 5:38:59 AMOn the contrary data miners had always been bungie's royal hype maker for secrets and puzzles They had never ruined any surprise, they literally were the reason ppl learned how to do whisper and a number of other puzzles, bungie no longer makes secret missions because they don't want to make them anymore I honestly feel bad for the miners, they were used to grab attention for new content, helpt the community figure out the -blam!- lantern order, cracked the route to find saint14's memory, and now taken the blame for bungie's own laziness, dmg had no standard, but this is a new -blam!- low
-
Don't believe that lie Bottom line , extra content eats into there profit , so they are going to keep the minimal content maximum profit model they have locked in untill they are ready to hook up a new cash cow to milk Any self respecting person would not give them another penny(or the lowest amount of your nation's currency) to the corporate calus aholes called Bungie

15 通の返信That or have better funding since most of it came from eververse and most of the people here aren’t willing to spend money to get a telesto ornament.
-
2 通の返信Clearly Bungie decided we are not smart enough for secret missions anymore after we failed to solve the 15th wish.
-
1 返信They didn't say there wouldn't be any more missions, they said they wouldn't be spending resources to hide any mission that they might add to the game.
