Egregore is not the end all be all thing. Not even close. All of these seasons with witch queen have been "of the mind". Witch queen with the throne world being a manifestation of Savathun's mind. Her getting her memories back after losing them when she was reborn with the light. PsiOps being about capturing hive to scour their minds. Haunted being about past trauma and overcoming the nightmares. Plunder being about the past of Misraaks and Eramis with Misraaks symbolically moving beyond his dark past by embracing the light working alongside humanity. With Eramis as this stark reminder of who he was and could turn out being if he lets the temptation overcome him again.
Light is a new start.
Dark is a reminde.

TheArtistにより編集済み: 10/21/2022 4:04:11 PMActually Seasons of the Haunted and Plunder explore different aspects of the same issues. Haunted looks at it from the stand point of recovery.....while Plunder looks at it from a standpoint of Forgiveness/Redemption. Crow did terrible things as Uldren, and had to find a way to cope with the immediate aftermath of the shame and guilt over what he'd done in that previous life (courtesy of Savathun's darkness). Misraaks and Eramis represent two different paths forward (depending on your PoV) after that initial shock and realization of what you've done. Misraaks sees his actions from the point of view of those who he has harmed. (Identification with the victim) So (like Crow) he seeks to atone for his past. Put it behind him and Be Better. Though he struggles with the shame and guilt of his past---especially having to reveal it to his daughter---he is not paralyzed by it. Although it was painful and seems to hve damage his relationship with her to a degree....he ultimately finds the courage to face her and the truth of his past. Eramis, OTOH, is stuck. She continues to see herself as a victim..and in her dealing with others she sees her past victimization as a license to do whatever she feels she needs to in order to survive. So she can't move beyond her past. She just keeps repeating the same bad behavior over and over and over again. Even when Eido offers her a way out... she can't let go of the past. Can't let go of the anger, the pain, and the need for vengeance....to move on. She's miserable....and her actions spread that misery to others. Instead of facing the truth, she projects her issues out into the world. She projects it onto Misraaks and hates him for (insisting that he hasn't changed) what she refuses to face in her self. Misraaks has clearly changed. Her problem is that SHE hasn't changed, and is unable to face her inner demons in a way that would allow her to change. "The inability to forget is far more debilitating than the inability to remember."

I'm not sure what your point is since all I'm doing in trying to prove the connection between Egregore and the Witness. Also if you notice, WQ and the last 2 season focused heavily on psychic warfare. (The literal definition for Egregore is its a psychic entity) Season of the haunted gave us deeper insights into Egregore. There is even lore from the collapse which suggests Egregore played a roll as there are a handful of lore pieces that describe strange screeching creatures that smelled like wet earth. IrL fungi has an earthy aroma, and Egregore was behind much of screeching sounds we heard on the leviathan (and possibly glykon) Also the concept of Egregore being the true enemy seems like something bungie would do, as it's the silent enemy that you'd never suspect. I mean the drifter has been hauling it around with him for years, so that could easily be how the Witness know so much about us.
-
I mean there is a connection sure but it isn't that deep. Egregore is of the darkness or rather attached itself to darkness. Witness made the darkness. Therefore Witness can harness egregore or at least spread influence with it. Is he made of Egregore or otherwise some symbiotic relationship with it? Eh. Not likely.
-
That's were your wrong, the Witness didn't make the darkness, but rather is a strong darkness user. The light an dark are fundamental parracausal forces that have always existed. Neither was made by any creature. (The unveiling book proves this) Think of the Witness as a sith lord, they are strong in the dark side but ultimately just a dark side user. The darkness essentially = death and the light essentially = life. With death you naturally have decay and decomposers (like fungi). This mean the Egregore has likely lived along side the darkness for a very long time and explains its relationship to the darkness. So if the Witness was a manifestation of the Egregor, this would essentially explain a lot and explain why it wants to kill all life.

So Altars of Reflection are just nonsense then? Literally have Savathun laying down truths left and right after she had her fun with "two truths, two lies". She literally says "The Witness birthed the darkness. The Darkness has a will of its own." To add to Savathun's truths; she hasn't lied at all since being reborn in the light. She held up her end during season of the lost by giving back Osiris. She truly believes she is doing right by Traveler in the events of the campaign. It makes sense for something that is paracausal in nature to have a will of its own. Take the Traveler for example it has its own will. And the narrative at times makes a bit of a show that Guardians make their own fate by defying impossible odds. Witness can control the darkness which is obvious. So can we. Egregore attaches to the darkness where it can. It isn't darkness purely speaking. It just holds onto the darkness. And as egregore spreads so too does the influence of the Darkness it clings to. The narrator of the Unveiling lore book is basically echoing the argument of The Final Shape and how it is truth over the Light's interference with the cosmic balance dictated by the flower game. The Gardener and Winnowner are just two paracausal beings from a higher plane of existence or another universe that put the pieces of Light and Dark into play in our universe. Clovis Bray even says that Clarity Control is from beyond our universe. Clarity Control is an effigy of the Darkness that spreads its influence.
