As a guy that loves Destiny, and has played way too much if it over the years, I had a buddy the other day ask me if it's worth getting into.
I had to be honest and tell him no, I don't recommend Destiny to new players.
No true story to know what's going on.
No tutorial to teach you anything.
Endless costs to play with your friends that already own everything.
There's no way I can justify talking one of my friends into playing, and lately, I can't even talk myself into it.

Here's my take, Bungie needs to make the game tailor to ONE CHARACTER. So what I mean is, You boot up Witch Queen. You play thru the legendary Campaign and unlocked all 3 , 3.0 Classes and Grenades and Aspects. When you start a 2nd character OR even have one already. You should be able to have the option to Auto complete stuff that one character already did ( Except Raids obviously ) . No need to run thru Stasis Class and WQ Campaign two more times. You are granted with the end rewards if you choose to skip it. Also, the whole having to buy the grenades and aspects for ALL characters is ridiculous.

NGL I’d still recommend it, but I would not recommend they play it solo. I’d want to be there as a Sherpa for them to help show them the way. That being said, I would definitely understand if a few hours in they just weren’t feeling the game. The amount BS, unexplained stuff, and just generally lacking guidance in this game. I can see a person just having a harder time getting into the game than we day 1 vets did.

D1 I played excessively, about 30 hours a week was my average, D2 I used to play about the same but nowadays I average about 3 1/2 hours a week, to much grind to wanna play by myself and the clan I used to play consistently with just quit playing around shadowkeep and to be quite honest even trying to get acquainted with a new clan is a pain, most are just large discord clans with far to many members and instead of operating as a group they operate as an lfg. Not my thing.

Docventureにより編集済み: 10/14/2022 2:48:03 PMYeah I get he's personally feeling that way NOW, but maybe he's projecting a bit much and didn't give the most unbiased assessment? A game that he admittedly "loves" and has spent literally thousands of hours himself in having good times and adventures. But that isn't what he shares with him, only the bad stuff now that he's bored and feeling burnt out. "Yeah man the game sucks cause you'll get bored after 5 or so years of blasting aliens in the face and taking all their stuff, so better to not even try it." meh....

Roachにより編集済み: 10/14/2022 8:18:40 AMSpot on mate. All the lads I have introduced have moved on, in the last two weeks my play time has dropped away dramatically. I feel sorry for players starting out. Bungie need to make some serious changes, and quickly. I remember one of the lads I introduced asking me who the funny guy in the Exodus Crash strike was, told him about Cayde. And then how Cayde died. And that he can't play that story as the Forsaken is sunset. He asked me who Hawthorne was in the tower, why is she there. No point even going there. Again, her reason for even being there is buried in a sunset expansion. What a mess. I am going back to Destiny with a mate to play through that with him. At least we can play the entire story together. Looking forward to going back to the Dreadnought !! Also, no wokery. Yay.

Devs dont waste time on tutorials. They have figured out that for mmo/looters, whatever you want to call them, that it does not impact retention. If people are interested they will figure it out or seek the information. Completely agree on story and progession as it would seem like what's the point.

I tried to get my teenage stepson to play so me and my dad would have a 3rd player. Got him the game, paid for his PS+... first thing that happened when he started up? In orbit.. “what do we do now?” I couldn’t give him a good answer.. that was the only time he played.
