Dedicated servers is not the “smallest of changes”. It’s not just flipping a switch. It’s not even just buying more servers and flipping a switch. If they have not started building a non-P2P network for the game we’d be looking at at least a year of development as they almost rebuild the whole of D2’s network, and even then there’s bo guarantee it doesn’t have bugs and issues that take a while to iron out too. The netcode in D2 touches many if not every aspect of D2. So I have no idea how much they’d have to rebuild. I’m not saying it can’t be done or shouldn’t be done, just that it is not a small change.
