Dedicated servers is not the “smallest of changes”. It’s not just flipping a switch. It’s not even just buying more servers and flipping a switch. If they have not started building a non-P2P network for the game we’d be looking at at least a year of development as they almost rebuild the whole of D2’s network, and even then there’s bo guarantee it doesn’t have bugs and issues that take a while to iron out too. The netcode in D2 touches many if not every aspect of D2. So I have no idea how much they’d have to rebuild.
I’m not saying it can’t be done or shouldn’t be done, just that it is not a small change.
Dedicated servers will never be a thing for destiny. Sorry but we’re in year 8 of its 10 year road map. Bungie has more to get us interested after this
Indeed. I’m not expecting it. Maybe if we would ever get a Destiny 3 they could have invested into it. And maybe if the post light and dark saga is meant to be another 10 year roadmap. Maybe for that. But I don’t expect it in the next 2 years. The ROI just isn’t there for Bungie.
