Why is there no SBMM in Trials but it's in Control? Also why is freelance not constant?
So Im a solo player. I get matched up against stacks of diamonds and Im trash. Why is this even possible? I thought this was supposedly a competitive mode?

Because the concept of "flawless" can only exist in CBMM and card-based matchmaking modes. If you want anything other than that in Trials, gonna need to ask to rework the goal as well, which may or may not be a good thing. I persoanlly think "flawless" is outdated, but should still have value. Let's say hypothetically the card stayed as is, but card based matchmaking got more strict. Solos tended to matc solos, but could match teams is a skill based metric said it would be a decent match. (Wouldn't need flawless or freelance pool if this is done properly.) Tie flawless to ships, sparrows, ornaments, adpets with extra perks, unique armor sets, armor dropping fully materworked or with a minimum of 20 in a stat of your choice, etc. Now add crazy value for sitting at 7 wins and farming, and even more for farming while flawless, by allowing [i]a portion of[/i] the above to drop from post match rewards. Now it gets harder as you progress, but if you make it to 7 wins, you get 1 standard adept. And you can reset and try again if that is easier than farming at 7 for you, but farming at 7 would be MUCH better for better players. I GUARENTEE you the playlist would be flooded with players.

Maybe there aren't teams of people with your skill level? Do you practice in Elimination? The trials practice mode? If not, you're not trying to win. Solo queue isn't for going to the lighthouse, it's just to finish quests or get random wins. If you want to do well, find a team and practice in Elimination. Separation is in the preparation. Use solo queue to make friends.

15 通の返信Trials is card based. Thats why. Trials is top tier player event you need to be decent skilled player to get to seven wins. Being solo player is not something to be proud about in PVP on Destiny it is a team based game modes besides rumble. You need to shoot move communicate and frag your enemies.

8 通の返信SBMM is where you go to increase your Skill, over time, rising through the Brackets you then hit the Highest Bracket. You then take your Skill and see how it holds against others with no safety Net. That's what SBMM....it's a Safety Net. And why there's no Permanent Freelance, is because a Large portion of the population doesn't like it. More problems then Reg. From recent numbers(Trials Report) it appears only 1.5k-2,000 players join in on Freelance weeks. Not enough. Pretty much can lead to only 1.5k to 2k play Freelance. That's bad. Freelance is non important pretty much.

22 通の返信Just because you can't compete doesn't mean it's not competitive. The point of competition is that better players perform better and this incentivizes personal improvement. If trials had sbmm there'd be no point to getting better.

Trials doesn't use SBMM because it matches based off wins on the card. Typically the your 1st and 2nd wins are the toughest because everyone is going for flawless so they reset after 1 or 2 losses. Also use lfg, and wait till Sunday or Monday as the flawless pool kicks in on Sunday and anyone who goes flawless gets put into a separate pool

1 返信I wish players that suck without freelance would just stay out of trials on non freelance weeks. Then you would always have a freelance playlist. And the solo players that are in would be stronger for the duo or the full solo teams that get put together.

SBMM in Trials: 1) Does not necessarily mean more players will go flawless. It just distributes the Flawlesses among a wider range of skill. In fact, less players overall may go Flawless than the approximately 25% we have now. 2) Trials is meant to reward skill. You cannot implement SBMM to Trials without scaling the rewards. 3) The playerbase (as it is currently) doesn't support SBMM. There's simply not enough players online playing Trials at any given time to justify splitting the playerbase up. SBMM belongs in Control, because these complaints don't apply there. Control is meant to be enjoyable to all and doesn't seek to reward skill.

I run around with a jotuun getting engrams and stacks of guardians go to the lighthouse after playing me lol Trials is a joke and the lighthouse is utterly meaningless.

2 通の返信Because Trials is not really end game PVP. It was in D1 but now it is watered down. It is fantasy land for players who want a competitive experience without the competitiveness.

1 返信Answer to your topic question: Because that would make too much sense. It's beyond me that we get sbmm in the only casual game mode. Meanwhile we have trials, elimination, survival and iron banner as potential playlists for SBMM that would be/are way more fitting as a competitive environment. (Yes ik survival and elim already have it). Why does the only casual game mode have to be ruined with tournament like sweat matches aswell? Can't we just have a CASUAL party playlist back where we can try out loadouts and just chill? Maybe call that playlist "quickplay" or "classic mix" and make it use pure CBMM cause the game is using peer to peer in 2022 still and simply doesn't work with sbmm providing fun and good matches? I miss Forsaken.

Probably not. (thanks all the people resetting at 6 wins to pub stomp while the flawless pool is active)

1 返信The truth is - every other game usually has SBMM in ranked and none (or at least, a less strict form of SBMM) in casual. For some reason, Bungie is going about this method completely backwards.

It’s not competitive in the slightest, if you check matchmaking in Destiny tracker or trials report and you can see most teams that are solos will be evenly balanced but when you have a team it messes with matchmaking algorithm and gives you what you had last game basically. Trials back in D1 was it, it never got back to that pinnacle because the community didn’t want it back, the streamers did for subs and stuff.
