Why third party hardware cheating is actually far worse than most people realise

People barely understand what is going on, and believe that performance boosting third party hardware is what is broken, but in reality the major issue is third party hardwares’ ability to disguise mouse and keyboard as a controller. Using a mouse and keyboard disguised as a controller gives it the lenient aim assist of controller with the precision of a mouse, slap on an aim assist boosting script and you’ve got what is equivalent to almost soft aim bot on both console and PC. The cheaters on console are ridiculous, the scripting isn’t even the major issue, someone who is terrible at the game with 0 awareness isn’t becoming a god with a recoil reduction script or aim assist boosting script, its people using mouse and keyboard and gaining controller aim assist, alongside the ability to negate both recoil and flinch with ease. You only have to go play warzone or apex in a high skill mixed lobby to see how there is no way someone on a controller can ever compete with a competent m&k player in a movement heavy FPS, just look how many controller players are there in in pro level PC gaming? Their movement, degree of control (a whole arm adjusting a mouse versus a thumb controlling a tiny stick) and ability to make many adjustments to their aim at such a rapid speed just makes m&k leaps and bounds ahead of a controller on an FPS and many aren’t even cheating to receive the controller aim assist advantage, they are just using exponentially superior input with the added bonus of sticky aim assist. The fix is so mind numbingly simple and easy that someone is still beyond the bungie dev team. All these scripts as well as well as using a mouse makes use of many, many movements using the right stick, a number averaged in a given time frame that even the most overzealous stick slammer couldn’t possibly achieve using a standard joystick. Its that simple, do some testing, see the absolute highest possible number of stick movements possible over a given time frame, anyone over that threshold consistently, instant ban. This was an idea floated by another dev team as a possible fix in a game that was absolutely destroyed by mouse and keyboard use on console, but much like bungie, the devs wen’t “people aren’t quitting and refusing to pay for content en mass, who cares”. In the past when I’ve asked game companies why they do nothing they say “its up to the hardware provider to deal with that issue” and vice versa when asking asking console providers, each passing the buck for what is a detrimental issue they both should address. They key is if they aren’t loosing money they simply don’t care.
