Destiny 2 Forcing PC to shut down at random intervals.

Hello all. Recently was playing Destiny 2, and noticed an issue had developed. It started when i was doing bounties in the cosmodrome, when my screen cut black and my entire computer shut down. It did not attempt to restart, just stayed powered down until reactivated. Upon reopening my computer, I noticed no issues with random shut downs until i opened Destiny 2 again. I made it past the title screen, but as i selected my Titan, after a second or two of loading, the computer shuts down again. This happened two or three more times before i turned my computer on, did a full restart and then tried again. This time i made it into orbit, and was naturally relieved. I went back into the game, just for the same issue to happen once again ten or so minutes later. A few more restarts and crashes, i make it back in again. This time i stay in four an hour or two before being shut down. The intervals seem to be completely random, and unpredictable. There is no clear cause of what is causing them. I suspected PSU issues, but Destiny is the only game to cause this issue. There is no sign of overheating before it happens, as it could be in orbit, or other non-fps intensive situations. I'm really stumped here, and pretty desperate to get a fix.

  • Hi there! If the system is shutting down, then it sounds like it's either an overheating issue or you are receiving a particular stop error message. Please generate a DxDiag report. 1. Restart your machine. 2. When you log in, please click on the Windows icon on the lower right, then type dxdiag. If typed correctly, only one command should appear. Please click it. (If you need to enter the credentials of an administrator of the PC, please do so). 3. Allow the tool to run. A green bar should progress on the bottom portion of the window. If you receive any dialogue boxes as it progresses, please address them accordingly. 4. Once the tool is completed, please click on the "Save All Information" button. Save the resulting text file in an easy to find location, such as your Desktop. Then, close the tool. 5. Open the text file you just created and copy all of text to your clipboard by selecting all of it (Ctrl+A) and copying it (Ctrl +C OR rightclick and click Copy). Then, close the file. 6. Go to pastebin.com 7. In the text box below, paste all of the text in the box. 8. If you would like to make your system specs hidden, you can change the Paste Exposure to Unlisted. This will hide it from the Public section of the site but still allow people to view your Paste. Then, click the Create New Paste button. 9. Copy the resulting URL and reply back to this comment with the URL.
