Just played 8 games in Control and every single game was a blowout, with either our side or the other just completely massacring the other 100+ to 30-50ish. Whats up with that bungie? SBMM was working fine earlier in the week with ‘good’ (close) games. After speaking to other players on my friends list this is not an isolated occurrence, bc its happening to them as well.
Edit 9/19/22) I understand the limit is platinum (with only the top 500 being designated ‘diamond) so being in the Gold rank seems like it would qualify as ‘higher’ levels considering most people are in silver or lower.
An ya i only just started playing pvp seriously (on console) a couple months ago because i wanted to get a high stat armor set (on PC) before i dipped my toes in the water, and also because when i made the decision to take playing D2 PvP seriously, i wanted it to be on console, due to the fact that even after the switch to BattleEye D2 on PC is STILL infested with cheaters, and whatever gains i made, i wanted them to be legit. So the first few thousand hours (on steam ‘mister_mink’ ) was spent learning the game pve mostly and stat farming.
So ya i get that my overall k/d seems low atm and others are probably higher, but in the last few months ive been playing pvp daily ive managed to get as high the Gold 1 tier on D2 stat tracker (as of this writing its Gold 3) so i have nowhere to go but up.
Cheers.

18 通の返信I'm a bottom 4% player and I'm matching players who have gone Flawless 57 times. Control: Bronze III 946 #1,646,154 • Bottom 4% There is no "loose SBMM". There's just new light protection.

4 通の返信That's because the SBMM just isn't tight enough. It's putting players in a lobby with skill-gaps that are to large. The matchmaking is pretty much the same as last season. It's marginally better since there are less mercies, but the over all match quality is still really bad.

9 通の返信They said they would loosen the loose SBMM. So it’s a loose-loose situation?… Haha!🤣

2 通の返信Don’t mention the downsides of SBMM on these forums unless you want a barrage of nonsensical angry posts from the 0.41 KD crowd to come your way

It will take times for bloated KD farmer to go where they belong Skill in this game doesn't exist when most of top player just hide ...fight against a team that can successfully rush and these "good" player will get crushed

1 返信I wouldn’t say your games are higher level. You have the same kills as me near enough but my kills are this season and your kills are career.. I would like someone with vastly more experience in pvp to comment about sbmm because my games sometimes go the distance and that’s not even on the biggest maps. So my experience is that sbmm is working fine ✌️

Say it with me, SBMM doesnt work on a p2p game. Outside of of ib, pvp has been a horrible experience so far. Control has been reduced to a "will my shots/melee count?" Simulator. And non sbmm gamemodes now has the full population of everyone above a 2kd, wich is a bigger sweat fest. I think it mainly suffers from a lack of population in my experience. Meeting up with the same ppl several matches in a row despite leaving after a match and rejoining matchmaking. Its just not fun all around.

20 通の返信This is what happens when everyone asks for SBMM. Its a manipulative algorithm that forces 50% win rates. It doesnt match on skill. All the game does is make you stomp or get you stomped. It solved nothing. Halo 3 solved this issue in 2007 but the problem here is Halo 3 isnt predatory. All triple a games need to be predatory now, and modern SBMM is perfect for that.

5 通の返信Blame the streamers that don't want proper sbmm they bin non stop crying since start they hate games being even they want lob sided lobbies for content and to look good

5 通の返信Yeah, they changed something on Tuesday. It's leaning waaaay more like CBMM than SBMM. I just stopped playing. I wasn't having fun.

I've noticed that anyone who is in the top 40% or hire have a terrible pvp experience with sbmm. I mean I find myself going up against 3.0s and 4.0s and while there isn't as many mercies, it's common for 1 team to dominate the entire match
-
3 通の返信Seems to be now similar to last season now . Loose sbmm could mean anything with Bungie. Most of the kd farmers have worked around it. But at the same time some players are so obvious what they are doing , today and yesterday a player was only using sweet business and lurking around spawn areas ….hardly any capping 🤷🏼♂️

Funny thing is, them loosening sbmm affected gambit too. They did this in D1 they tightened sbmm for SRL to stop blowouts, and it worked, everyone finished close together but it made crucible unplayable as it used the same sbmm, you literally couldn't matchmake in PvP as the band's where too tight. Bungie said you couldn't match anyone bcoz everyone was in SRL. They said years later than they'd never bring SRL back bcoz no one played it, so more lies. Anyway, they loosened sbmm in PvP n now in gambit, it's always blowouts, before, both teams would get their primevil up, now almost every game it's finished with just 1 primevil being up. Lazy developmers imo

1 返信They recently announced they were loosening SBMM for both extremes of the skill level to make it easier to find matches. It was in the TWAB.

3 通の返信The SBMM system has a time limit on how long it waits before it expands the acceptable “skill” window to match players. I would warrant a guess that the Control population is lower due to people being tired of sweating in the 6v6 World Championship mode and instead chilling in Trials or Clash, so you have players with a wider range of “skill” present in the lobby. The rumour has it that the acceptable “skill” window has already been expanded by Bungie last week to keep search time and latency in check. Long story short, you might be experiencing very little SB in your MM… so it effectively feels like what we had in previous seasons.
