I always thought that an easy fix for Darci and Worm would be to move both to the special slot and make them anti barrier .
Just my opinion not everyone's .

I disagree based off of its usage in D1. It felt and worked perfectly in the special slot. There’s just no reason shottys and snipers should be a heavy weapon, unless they do a lot more stuff they wouldn’t normally do in a special slot, kinda like how the leviathans breath bow has that secondary action that throws enemies away from the kill point. Keeping those weapons as heavies is just a relic of a failed D2 year 1 experiment and it makes no sense at this point to keep them as heavies since their damage would be the same as a special slotted weapon.

In D1, Black Hammer and Black Spindle ran the board and pushed out the vast majority of other weapon options for DPS. It wasn’t until Spindle got a nerf in RoI at the same time Sleeper got a buff that there was much competition at all. Bungie knew what they were doing when they left a few weapons in the heavy slot. It gives them way more opportunity to grow stronger and give different gameplay opportunities and unique interactions to those weapons. Darci, and even Queenbreaker, could be moved as their power level and weapon fantasy isn’t strong enough for the power weapon slot. A slot you’re supposed to bring out when sh!y hits the fan. Whisper just needs a little bit more damage to make it compete with the new Veist Linears. Acrius got a huge buff making it be crazy good at close range encounters, competing with Lament. Tractor is it’s own thing and could use a bit of a buff to its own damage as rn it’s outclassed by Div. 1K just needs a catalyst to bump it’s damage slightly and (like literally every other fusion) needs a reserve ammo buff. The weapons add flavor, and I guarantee you that if Bungie tweaks the weapon to put it in the Special slot, we’ll never use it again as a DPS weapon.

Lastly, do you hear yourself? I assume you didn’t play D1 cause saying a dumb line like “it isn’t d1 so nobody cares” is just the more absolute ignorant thing you could even say about a game that’s literally a carbon copy of another game. Next time, be respectful. There’s no reason to be blindly rude when someone has a different opinion.

You’re making comparisons that literally are not relevant. The metas of both games are radically different and Whisper is a heavy sniper that is 100% designed with being a heavy in mind. It’s incredibly stupid to compare it to the Spindle, which was a special weapon in a very different meta.
