your increase # from the artifact does not mean you'd get a 1588 as a pinnacle, that just helps you access higher end content. yes you are experiencing normal light level gains, which can be frustrating when like you said, I have boots got more boots and no gain
to really see quicker light level gain, I would suggest raiding at least once a week for that's a +2 drop or any other +2 activity which include;
Kings Fall raid + weekly raid, 100k nightfall, Vox Obscura(powerful cabal kill), Master Wellspring, 100k story mission, Iron Banner bounties, Psi ops 10 champion kills, 100k DoE, and GoA(only one of the final boss drops) are all +2 pinnacle drops.
then run your strikes. gambit, crucible for +1's to balance your stuff for the following week

to be fair I wasn't expecting 1588 gear or anything, I know it's going to take a while to move up by farming pinnacles and it's only based on the base level. my concern was just. from my experiences, which to be fair isn't SUPER long history in D2, I've never seen it drop an item for a slot that was the same level as my current gear. every other time I've run pinnacles I've seen it drop at least a +1 to the slot. so for example with the boots if mine are 1572 it would drop at least a 1573 new pair of boots. that didn't happen for those 2-3 runs yesterday and instead it was the same level as the current item. I know it's going to take a while to level up, especially as a solo player (I only found out last week you could even do a LFG on the app to do higher end content). I just found it odd, based on my personal experience for it to not drop at least a +1 item and instead drop a same level item.

it's truly based on your players avg an even if everything is 1573 you could still get another 1573, it's crap and shouldn't work that way but sometimes it does, again try for a +2 to give you that little kick of difference and that should spark your climb once again happy hunting

Yeah I’m gonna spend some time this weekend trying to do some raids via lfg. Hopefully don’t piss off too many people as I have no idea what I’m doing in them lol. Appreciate the feedback. If it’s just the average I can see why it would happen I just Always experienced the +1 and thought that was the “minimum” it would give is a +1 etc.

cool, I've also noticed at certain levels there's a stall, example I could be stuck at 1575 for more than a week then boom I'm 1577 and then getting my first 1578 and then go through another drought of climb. I tend not to worry about it too much, it's only the 4th week, somethings in this game just take care of themselves just by playing

This is the first “new” season / expansion I’ve ever done. I started in the last month or so of witch queen. Only been playing like 2 months tops. I did notice similar I was stuck at that level roughly end of last week and first few runs this week which triggered the question. The. Last night I got a couple of +2’s and started moving again.

Try to even out you gear before doing pinnacles, then when you do get something higher it'll make more of a difference. If you need help with anything in game, send me an invite or friend request. I'm usually on every day and don't mind helping out if I can.

Once you've gone high on a couple pieces., you'll be able to use powerful rewards to bring you overall level up to the next point level. Then it's time for pinnacles again. You're working with 8 pieces of gear so you only need 8 points to gain a level. That can be gained from only a few pieces of gear if they are pinnacle level in the right spots. If you even out with powerful after that the next time you get a pinnacle drop it'll have a better chance at bumping you overall level towards the next point level. Your priority should always be to increase your lowest piece of gear before you play for pinnacle rewards. That being said, the drops are in random spots and can be duplicates sometimes, which makes it harder.

I didn’t realize this. I was under the impression power never dropped gear above like 1570 in current season. So would it be correct to say if it was like 1574 5/8 powerful rewards could / should drop 1574 gear?

The game takes your overall highest power and then adds to that, but if you have gear that's higher in one spot it can drop at or even lower than that piece if it drops in the same spot. That's why it's important to try and bring all other pieces up to that highest pieces level or as close as you can to your overall level before doing pinnacles. If you have one or two pieces of gear that's a few points higher than everything else it might not be enough to put your overall level up. Bringing your lowest pieces up will help your overall highest level.

If you use Dim (Destiny Item Manager) it'll show your highest and lowest level of gear and your overall level, so then you can at a glance know what gear you need to try and bring up to get you to the next level. There's only 8 pieces so it's not too hard to keep track of, but considering you don't have to actually equip the gear you get for it to count, it can sometimes get forgotten.
