It started small, starting in the east, spreading through the city. Agri drones halting their production to spin in circles, maintenance drones assembling tall and flimsy structures from welding flux and machine stock, domestic drones walking into walls, rambling about the signal, the need for the sunset, then going eerily silent. However, it soon escalated. While it initially appeared accidental, machines soon began to act more and more aggressive in their unknown goal. Hauler drones mowing over a crowd of people, accelerating on their hover pads, through buildings. Manual frames tossing their operators out of the chassis, before stamping out of the city, disconnected from the omninet. A signal was identified in the rampant machines, and partitions were quickly set up, limiting the spread to roughly a third of the city. However, every machine capable of autonomy in that area had gone, 'headed west'. Following this, a military group was set up to follow the machines, and figure out their intent. Volunteers with combat experience have been requested, rallying a kilometer or so outside the city walls, near a communications relay.
