It’s a heavy sniper. Either buff it or move it to a special slot

1 返信Hot take (maybe): it’s already great. The problem isn’t whisper right now, but there aren’t a lot of relevant bosses for it to work well. It’s total dps is the best, but bosses either move around too much or don’t have a lengthy damage phase

2 通の返信The only change I'd give Whisper is, if it's affected by this (as ICR at the top of my head), is reverting the box breathing nerf; if it's unaffected by this though then disregard this sentence. Beyond that, Whisper has become irrelevant because the enemies it was designed for are few in numbers these days. Whisper works best during extended damage phases, and especially against bosses with large crit spots and/or little movement. Templar is a good example of this. Against a more mobile boss, and/or one with a smaller crit spot, and/or one with a small damage window? It's going to suffer, especially if you miss a shot. It would garner more use if bosses were built more towards its needs.

3 通の返信One big problem with whisper is how bosses and general beefy enemies are handled in game. Boss damage phases in raids are typical very short. And whisper is a “sustained,” dps weapon. Not a “burst,” dps weapon. There are so few situations in game where whisper is viable that it makes little sense to attempt to use it, compared to other weapons. The buffs have not made it “competitive,” against other popular dps options like linear fusions and gallahorn. And with how fast and sometimes erratically enemies move in pve, it’s not good in high tier nightfalls and other master content. Set it back to what it was with forsaken, where it’s damage was massive and it could possibly fire forever if a person lands his shots. With how the game handles bosses anyway, it’s the only thing that will make it appealing again.

1 返信It just got a buff to its air effectiveness. That was clearly the buff everyone wanted and It’s clearly about to be meta, so leave it alone

Sleeper and Whisper are locked in an eternal battle for who is more meta. Perhaps one day the reign of sleeper will end when it stubs it’s toe too hard, and give rise to a dominant whisper. A whisper that people will use for an encounter that has a dps phase longer than 15 seconds Until then, I will continue to reacquire and dismantle whisper of the worm every day to remind Xol that it is man who was made in gods image (and that he is a stupid loser)

4 通の返信Uhm... I think I'd rather have the Whisper of the Worm remaining in the Heavy Slot. This is just for a reason of "feeling", almost flavour I'd say. I like the idea of a Heavy Sniper and the Whisper defintely gives me this vibe. From its design (even with the Ornamets), to its Stability, the sound it makes when you shot with it... you can feel it is an HEAVY Sniper. Buffing the damage would be cool, but Bungie must be very careful with it. Too much would bring us back to a Whisper of the Worm meta for Boss damage and I don't think they want this. Imho, of course.

2 通の返信It really suffers from it needing Precision Shots. Like I was gonna use it the other day and test it out but then I realized Atheon moves too much. Even Taniks is hard to hit with how he moves. Whisper has been buffed many times yet no one uses it cause of this. It is easier to just use Stormchaser since if you miss 1 part of the burst as precision it isn't the end of the world.

9 通の返信I agree. I took it with me on a solo run of Preservation. I was levelling up my Beloved at the time, so I had a head to head comparison between the two. Whisper did maybe 15% more damage, but with it's slower fire rate, limited magazine (missing one shot and your reloading) compared to my 7 shot beloved, well I wouldn't use it again. It's just too under powered for an Exotic Heavy Sniper.
