I don’t get it man.
Destiny is not a competitive game. Sure I want the experience to be pleasant and things to be balanced, but I swear it doesn’t matter if I’m playing trials or raiding. The top of the top are so enamored by their stats and egos, carries or clears, that it isn’t fun to play with them.
As someone who utilizes LFG a lot, it’s amazing to me how toxic this particular game is. I mean - I love Destiny, and I play a good amount - but god. Even when stepping back and looking at COD or CSGO or Siege, it’s just not the same. There are people who are toxic in a lobby and talk trash, but that’s different from the deep down, I’m better than you attitude that plagues Destiny.
It’s awful, and I have to remind myself that there are good people out there helping out, but Christ man. I’m just here to play, not get insulted and kicked from lobbies because I don’t bow down and foam at the mouth at your 200 flawlesses or raid clears.
It’s a -blam!- video game.

5 通の返信I am in the bottom 1%. Yes, it’s a video game and I treat it as such. I don’t want to be good at it because there’s no benefit in it. Sure, put me on a team in PvP or PvE and I will do my very best because I’m a team player but ‘Being Good at Destiny’ isn’t going on my CV anytime soon. I just want to shoot stuff, pick up some loot and then move on to other things. I’ve no time for those who make it toxic or get over serious about their ‘achievements’ because they just ruin it for others and the majority of us don’t need that rubbish in our lives.

I’m just here to play, not get insulted and kicked from lobbies because I don’t bow down and foam at the mouth at your 200 flawlesses or raid clears. It’s a -blam!- video game.
Credentials: 900+ full raid clears 1000+ total clears Top 550 in speed ranking on raid report as of the time of this post (even after RR ate my 16m52s GoS clear). Obviously that'll change over time. 300 of my clears are sherpa runs. Many others are helping for challenges for seals. I have fatebreaker and desciple-slayer, which is roughly a 1% achievement for PvE. My thoughts: I believe the biggest problem in this community is its inability to adjust their expectations based on who they're with. When I do a sherpa run, I don't treat it like a sweaty clear. I'm not doing skips or cheeses. The learners do mechanics in every encounter. I don't care how long it takes and I don't shame learners for learning. When they mess up, it's not "f*cking blueberry sh*tter", it's "okay, so talk to me, what happened there, let's fix it", I'll check their gear (hey bud, maybe try not running double primaries, you got a shottie, glaive, or fusion rifle on you) or I'll take an easier role so I have the time to watch them and see what's going on (ah, okay, so youre getting too close to Caretaker there, that's why he keeps turning around, if you're shooting back stun, you should be fuether away). When I'm doing a challenge run with people, I assume they've done the raid enough times to know the roles well enough to where all we gotta do is configure for the challenge. No teaching, just doing the same stuff differently. I'm a bit less lenient for not knowing base mechanics, but I still understand that we're doing stuff weirdly so I'm not too rough on my fireteam. But When I'm in a farm/speed group? The fun there is fast clears and high efficiency. There is little room for error. I am prepared to eat sh*t when I screw up and, usually, the people I'm playing with are ready to eat sh*t when they screw up. There's no more leniency. Everybody knows what to do. When a mistake happens, it's due to a bad play (killing yourself on accident, not paying attention, etc), and everybody knows it. When you play with different groups, you gotta adjust your attitude accordingly, otherwise people are going to hate you and you're going to be miserable all the time. That's my take anyway. People can insulate themselves from it if they raid report people before joining their LFG. If you see the player has 2000 raid clears, maybe don't join that one or, at least, join with the expectation that it might be rough. On the flip side, if it's your LFG post, don't expect world record pace when your team consists of people with 10 clears and 5 of them are boss CPs to farm for the raid exotic. In any case, I'm pretty good at adjusting my attitude, playstyle, and expectations so I rarely have those types of problems. I can join almost any LFG post and find ways to have fun. Except during master raids. In master raids, I am a top 1% -blam!-hole because I am not going to spend 3 hours doing one encounter to drag someone through it who has 1 regular raid clear, 14 fails, and thinks I'm doing a streamer raffle (I don't stream at all lol, but you get the point). That's the only time where I'm like "sorry, you're not good enough for this", and tbh, I think in that instance, it's the other player who isn't adjusting their expectations accordingly.

3 通の返信Funny part is they arent better. They use crutches so much in this game with aim assist exotics and bs so even the supposed top 1% are just down right trash at the end of the day.

48 通の返信Sup bro, I’m a top 0.1% player and the truth is most of us are not toxic. Casual players just assume we’re toxic because we’re that much better than them. For example, yesterday I finalized a deal on an Italian hand made sports car, it ended up costing me 725,000 dollars. While getting it shipped into the states I had to deal with so much hate and envy from the importers. They thought just because I can afford a luxury car I’m automatically a rich -blam!- bag. It’s the same at the gym. My girlfriend hates going to the gym with me because when I’m cracking Zyzz hard style and benching 350 it attracts a lot of females eyes my way and my girlfriend hates it. I spent years getting absolutely shredded and now all the fat people hate me and call me fatphobic. Destiny is no different. I spend all day running over casual players effortlessly. I don’t pay much attention to my games, I just win without realizing it. Casual players despise me and call me toxic when I win games constantly, when all I’m doing is just playing the game. The truth is there are two types of people. Winners and losers. Which will you be?

DuBChiri2により編集済み: 6/20/2022 4:48:58 PMTypically the people that talk trash have that "I SHOULD be better than you" mindset going on. A friend of mine is like that and it's super annoying playing some games with him. He just whines nonstop about how "trash" the enemy team is or how "I shouldn't be losing to them" sort of deal. Even though we all know we are doing just as cheesy crap as they are to get by. And it's not even the top % of people that are always like that, some people just cannot accept the fact that they are losing or are getting outplayed. Am I one of those people at times, of course because most people get like that for SOMETHING, but it's especially bad when people who SUCK at something don't understand that and throw others under the bus. The top % of players have a legitimate reason to be confident, some of them take it way too far and others are more humble about it. Its how people are and they exist everywhere at all levels no matter where you go. Destiny being the game you play the most is GOING to make it seem worse than it would be if you compared games equally. Every online game I've played has felt very similar in its levels. Even on league ive probably had some of the most enjoyable allies AND enemies in any game I've played. People cracking jokes and doing funny on both ends just having a good time. I've also had the complete opposite happen. Destiny is very much like that and can be hit or miss. Has some guys in a trials match absolutely STOMP my team and they bagged us and invited us to talk after a match. I was getting ready to hear some slander but it honestly wasnt anything of the sort. They were actually pretty chill lol.

It’s not just the top players lol I’ve come across tons of bottom of the barrel players being extremely toxic and arrogant. It doesn’t matter what percentage it is, I’ve come across many players across all skill spectrums act like detriments because they lost in a video game, or because you didn’t play the way they think you should. It’s a people problem, and it won’t get better soon unfortunately.

3 通の返信blood stealthにより編集済み: 6/18/2022 1:16:43 PMHad a guy pissed at me during control about two years ago. I’ve quoted him ever since when he said “get better at rumble!” Finding any method he could to shame me As a top player myself I am quite toxic for less so a purpose to hurt people but to grab attention. As far as going to dedicate a button on my controller to “hold crouch” so I can bounce up and down a lot faster. It’s really exciting when people go out of their way to target you because it puts you to the test to see if you can really handle multiple people targeting you at the same time. Kind of why I’m very used to 1v3 situation and this why I can perform as well as I do. Metas shift and now that survivability shifts as well and the cycle restarts. It’s quite an interesting experience, but hate mail passed an “L” is extremely unnecessary toxicity Pve: I’ve been kicked because a friend got online for someone in the group mid raid, I’ve been literally stalked by someone on lfg making mult accounts to keep in touch with me, there are a ton of really weird and not healthy minded people using LFG in this game and it pains me when people hog roles in activities and don’t let newer people get to understand a meaningful role in a raid besides ad clear

8 通の返信Yea I agree. I was just racially profiled too because I had a bad game. This community is very toxic!

Last time i was kicked from an LFG team, i did not die in a GM until the boss fight.. the other 2 died very often because they were rushing… I’ve gilded the seal 4 times now and they didn’t even have 1 seal but these “mlg” players of course kicked me and i got a message that i was a trash player… I didn’t have the most kills because i always focus on the champions! So many players think they’re hot -blam!- in this game..
-
Full on agree, but this is the society of the modern day. *”Im better than you so you can -blam!-.”* or *”You cant join because you dont have 150 clears/beaten the dungeon/ have this specific weapon with over 18,000kills on it……”* bla bla bla. It really makes ya wonder who the -blam!- raised these people?

5 通の返信Meow Fairyにより編集済み: 6/19/2022 12:12:30 AMThats what happen when you give players a feeling of sucess. A lot og layers feels like they are the sh*t because they farmed this game. They are proud of their 600 raids done, and their flawless etc.. But lets be honest...even my little sister who isnt even born could complete a raid XD. And as for flawless you can get it easily if you have a team you are used to play with. Especially with the flawlesspool and all the cheesy stuff. Bragging about completeing the same activity a thousand time is ridiculous when its in such a casual game. Myself i am one of those players who farmed the hell out of raids /dungeons and also i did a lot of trials (even tough im clearly not the best) But i dont consider it as a sucess in my life, i dont play for stats, i played all lf those activites because i liked it. Not to show off and being elitist over fellow guardians. I welcome those who want to do their first raids or are inexperienced, its a pleasure to share the experience and help players getting exciting loots. (Only exception are those lying about their experience, those suck) And im not the only one like that, you just remember more easily a**holes than normal players.

21 通の返信Blakkpersonにより編集済み: 6/18/2022 7:35:17 PMHmmmm CSGO and CALL of duty are mindless killing simulators lol you dont even ACCOMPLISH anything theres no buildcrafting, synergizing none of that you may get some cool cosmetics and gain experience no matter what but, DESTINY 2 requires TEAMWORK to be able to accomplish a lot of tasks and a BAD team mate can and will hold you back. One example i can give its not fun when when youre stuck trying to get something done because someone else is holding you back and that player will have the nerve to be offended when they dont even CARE about the game but want to ride you like a pretty pony to the fishline Ive probably wasted so much time helping people and i dont even mind doing it sometimes but, everyone isnt here to help you. In destiny 2 yes, you need to rise above so you can lift those below but, its hard to rise when youre strapped to my back like a giant child lol and the toxicity part comes from people just wanting to get stuff done if i only have an hour or 45 mins and what to get a raid done NO i dont want to raid with someone who doesnt care about the game and/or is trash.. Its a rpg there are different elements to it. IF you are in the bottom 50-90% of players you are not an endgame player you dont need that cool raid exotic you dont need those raid weapons you can solo que into a vanguard strike and do everything someone can do in endgame content and it will be braindead easy for you but, the moment you WANT MORE and make the foolish decision that you will USE OTHERS TO GET WHAT YOU WANT WITHOUT HAVING ANY VALUE AS A TEAM MATE you might run into resistance. AND THIS COMMUNITY HAS TONS OF SHERPAS PEOPLE WHO LITERALLY ARE NON TOXIC WILL SPEND AS MUCH TIME AS YOU NEED TO HELP YOU GET SOMETHING DONE AND ACTUALLY ENJOY DOING IT!!! ASK FOR A SHERPAAAAA!!! LFG FOR A SHERPA!!!! STOP EXPECTING TO GET CARRIED!!!! ASK FOR HELP!!!! CONTRIBUTE!!!!!! DONT WASTE OTHERS TIME KNOW YOUR ABILITES AND WHAT YOU WANT AND ASK!!!!!!

maxにより編集済み: 6/19/2022 4:38:21 AMI don't think it's that connected to "top1%" I don't even think it's about players If the game requires you to grind a specific god roll of a particular weapon from one dungeon map to get the one loadout you're supposed to be using to one phasing a raid boss each season then toxic is exactly where the devs want players to be
-
3 通の返信most ppl of the top 1% in terms of wealth are toxic too, that's just how it is lol

the 1% are always and will always be through human history in any circumstance EVER; be the most toxic piece of garbage. are there outliers? sure. but to count them is to find a grain of sand in a pile of snow.

32 通の返信The Hermit IXにより編集済み: 6/19/2022 6:57:27 PMDid someone call you a pleeb? Better players that act toxic are nerds getting back at people for being stuffed in a locker in HS. Don’t steal their thunder because they don’t have any outside of gaming. Let them do well in a game and yeah when they’re toxic just remind them they can still be stuffed in a locker lol.
