It serves no purpose in the game outside of locking players from activities. It served any other purpose I'd say keep it but their isn't any benefit for us as players.

As long as the game has players running around on a hamster wheel to complete meaningless tasks then power level needs to remain. Power Level grind is the only carrot to justify the lack of creative development that presently exists within the game. Why would you continue to level your character if there wasn’t a power level ceiling to reach for each season? Power Level matters very little in this game and in my opinion it should make players stronger as a reward for their time investment in building it up. Scaling activities or locking players to a specific power level only serves to help the causal player. The player that hasn’t sprained their ankle running on the hamster wheel.

1 返信No, it just needs to go back to D1 standards. LL increase every DLC of maybe 50. No artifact garbage. No setting the levels of GM content at 20-30 above cap to try to promote and endless artifact grind. It sucks that the beginning of every season we're lower than the end of the previous season. In a three month cycle there is nothing rewarding about grinding an artifact level that will disappear so quickly. Destiny has become an empty shell.

4 通の返信They could remove power level and just make activies easy, normal, hard and gm. Easy you do more damage and take less Normal is equal Hard has modifiers GM had modifiers and you deal less and take more damage Idk, I feel like there are better options than the current system.

1 返信The only problem is people being salty about armor they deleted before beyond light (plus mountaintop/recluse/nf/luna/mindbenders/revoker coming back and polluting the sandbox. If all pre beyond light stuff could be blockaded out to protect those who deleted gear in good faith I’d have no problem removing power level from everything else and letting the rest of the game be variations of contest mode

8 通の返信I mean when most endgame activities like grandmaster, trials, and Iron Banner (if you call that endgame) disable your power bonus with the exception of GM locking you at a specific power then yeah there really is no point in power being a thing. Raids however are a different story, if you have high power then you have the probability of doing a raid faster and better than another team who has a lower power so idk what to do there. If you can't tell I don't raid that much except for VoG because I'm an OG and it's still my favorite, anyway yeah I always figured the higher the power the better the damage and such. I don't know too much about that. Overall yeah I can see power level being useless and it should go away but I don't see it happening any time soon. Man just bring back the defense rating that's all I'm asking for.

All it's really for is to just extend the grind by making you come back each week to get higher levels and to show how much you play. It really is a pointless number because we're not becoming stronger as it goes up lore wise in game and mechanically. Makes no sense that the "stronger" we get enemies scale with us

4 通の返信Ah yes, the ole culprit in the power creep conundrum. D2 might make it to the end with power level changes every season like it is now. In 2 years we'll be where? 2500? It'll be time for a true D3 by then.

Idk. It swerves a purpose of getting you to play things to level up and there should be lockouts to things like GMs. I agree it is annoying. This season was really hard cause all the pinnacles are the same as last season so doing something like farming a champion on Vox has already worn off the fun, not that it was a fun goal in the first place. But I like accomplishing something and power level is the identity of the game.

Yeah, especially now the post-dlc 10 LL increase - that is you were at the cap last season, it's all pinnacle grind after that (and don't get me started on the artifact). It's a pointless barrier to many of my friends who are good but don't have the time (or will) to grind just so they can do a GM etc.

3 通の返信Normally I’d say something like “it’s part of the grind” But after 8 years of watching my power level go from the forever 29 grind in D1 to now hitting close to 1600, when does it end? I’m starting to feel some fatigue when it comes to the power system. Every season it just restarts with a higher number that is meaningless to the story. I think that’s my major gripe, I’d like to see our power grind somehow tied to the story (for example “a new threat is Imminent and it’s more powerful than us, we need to study it and get more powerful”) that’s a basic example but the main endless chase of a higher number is getting old
