Game is stuttering constantly using 100% CPU

I havent been able to play Destiny 2 since the new expansion came out. I dont know what has been changed to alter performance, but before i could run Destiny smoothly, without issues, but now it keeps using 100% of my CPU when playing, making my game stutter to the point i cant turn or aim, sometimes its hard to move in general. That makes the game unplayable. There's really no way around that. A friend helped me troubleshoot and we turned my settings down, we changed settings on my PC to make things run smoother, we made sure only necessary programs were running in the background, and still, even when only running Destiny 2, there has been no improvement. My PC specs are above the minimum requirements listed on steam, and as mentioned, i was able to run Destiny with no issues prior to the new expansion. We also made sure all my drivers are updated, so that isnt the issue either. I would really appreciate some feedback to solve this issue, if possible. *Edit: I have also reinstalled Destiny 2 and it has not solved the problem.

  • I have come to this clear realization that bungie for some reason is completely fine with having a good chunk of the community (on PC at least and even some known console issues, those typically get fixed though) suffer through unbearable and sometimes dang near unplayable experiences. Then the players go to official destiny pages on social sites such as reddit or even here the mods just end up pinning it on "sorry not our your fault its clearly your PC" because A. they don't want to admit to this large chunk of people that the game is poorly optimized. B. they ran out of possible fixes that are usually meant for smaller issues. I think what makes it worse is they say these things about our PC's but most of us have been able to play the game prior with little to no issue before. Furthermore just like you, most of us I'm willing to bet have specs far beyond the recommended spec and still have issues. I have yet to see a mod retort when people comeback with that. I'm sure its because no logical person could, there's no reason we should suffer these issues. Just as we shouldn't receive little to no transparency on the status on fixing the problem from the developers, my thoughts are because they're making no strive for it anyway because as I said earlier, they're complacent with people suffering from these issues apparently.

I’ve seen some performance issues as well but on the series x. During the new dungeon, the boss encounter my whole fireteam’s fps dropped multiple times during the fight, we all have series x. Never had the issue until this new season.

    • I'm in a similar position as you are in. My advice is check to see if you have been affected, like I have, by the VRAM leak. How? Log into the game, pick any character you want, upon loading into orbit press esc on your keyboard, then settings, then video, and at the top, there should be a bar that shows your VRAM usage. For me, with the release of the new season, my VRAM has gone off the charts, so much so that it's red, which it should never be, and for me personally, up until now, has never been. If you're VRAM bar is red, you probably got affected, like I and many others have, by the VRAM leak in which case you can't play and will have to wait until Bungo hopefully gets around to fixing this bs. Hope I could help in some way.

I too have experienced a similar issue with the season. My computer is also @ 100% CPU Usage. At about 15 - 20 mins into my play session I am being bombarded with Weasel, Bee and NAT errors. I notice before it happens that my son on the same network playing the same game experiences that same issue on his computer. We Talk through discord and just before we are disconnected from each other and then the game our voice chat stutters. I thought that it could be the communications between discord causing the issues but I am looking to isolate this issue so I started working on a baseline No discord just me playing the game by myself and got the same issues. I tried making sure all my Port forwards were set up on my router and my windows firewall properly and that My NAT settings are set proper within the game, to no avail. I check my windows log files to see if there where any reported errors and found none. I am currently working on reinstalling the Destiny 2 client on my computer to rule out an issue with the Seasonal update. I have also made sure to take off the family security options to rule out an issue with the Steam client. This will be a fresh install of Destiny on my computer, However I am at a loss. I am running Destiny on a computer which exceeds the recommended Minimum Requirements. Intel I-5 8600K with 32 GB of ram and a XFX 5600XT and a 1GB Ethernet connection. Update: The Reinstall of destiny 2 did not fix the error. I played with my son and it started to error again but did not kick us out for a while. I had him turn off disscord to trouble shoot the connection issue eventually it crashed, however this time I got a new error Plum and Battle eye window says Client not responding. I hope this helps
