When Destiny 1 was released, I was quite unhappy with the state of the game, and decided to hold off on purchasing Destiny 2 as a way to "vote with my wallet" and wait for post-release patches and expansions to be completed.
I purchased a copy of Destiny 2: Forsaken in 2018, and after a few years of waiting through further expansions, decided it was time to jump in and enjoy all of the story content at once.
To my dismay, I found an even more incomplete experience than Destiny 1, with the content I had seen advertised (in trailers and on the box itself) completely absent. Cayde-6 was killed off screen in a throwaway line of dialogue, while the trailers seemed to indicate there were cutscenes illustrating this event? Pieces of the Traveler can be seen littering the skybox of some maps, but its destruction was not shown or even talked about?
I found after talking with friends that the original content for Destiny 2 was removed to make room for further expansions. The problem is, that sends a clear message to conscientious buyers like myself -- who wait patiently and spend according to how we're treated in past experiences -- that we are not wanted in the Destiny 2 experience. It's like a direct message from Bungie saying, "Oh, you didn't play our game already? Sorry then, we don't want you at all." How am I supposed to jump into and get invested in the story if the beginning of the story has been completely removed? What about all the developers that sacrificed years of their lives to create content that has been condemned to the ether?
I am quite unsatisfied with this experience, especially after so many years have passed and Bungie has had a chance to learn from its mistakes with Destiny 1. It seems that those lessons have not been learned, and Bungie is in fact making worse decisions than it did for the first title.
At this point, all I want to know is:
- Is there any way for me to access Year 1 content at all?
- Failing that, how do I receive a refund for the game? I spent $60 on an experience that doesn't even contain the content that was advertised, I do feel I'm owed some restitution.

I'd like to follow up on this. I saw recently on the Xbox dashboard there is a sale on Destiny 2 content, including the "Legacy Pack" which claims to have Forsaken and early story content (if I'm reading this correctly). Did they pull the legacy expansions from the Vault after my initial post, or do these packs just contain armors and weapons? Can I play the story content I purchased on disc now, or is my situation still the same? This service model is very alienating.

2 通の返信Lord Kielronにより編集済み: 5/19/2022 10:56:57 PMUnfortunately that’s how the new experience is in the game now. None of the OG content aside from EDZ and Nessus is in the game anymore. Even the early expansions are basically gone as well. It’s super 💩ty. The DCV is a content vault. Basically it’s just everything they removed from the game, that they “MIGHT” add back in at a later date. You cannot access any of it at all.

2 通の返信Maybe play the games you buy when you buy them? Most games don’t necessarily have a consistent experience if you’re waiting literal years after you made the purchase to play them. You don’t deserve any kind of payment for this. It’s entirely on you lmao.

4 通の返信1) no. Year 1 Content that includes RW/Warmind/Forsaken/BA/JW/OP...are all in the DCV- Destiny Content Vault. 2) Bungie doesn't owe anything/any (Restitution😂) as Destiny 1&2 IP is owned by Bungie. In their TOS they clearly State that they hold the Right to Remove or Add anything for the Health of the Game. When you click "Agreed", you agreed. Next time Read the TOS of a Game. 3) if you want a Refund, you have to go through the Platform you purchased it on. Bungie won't give out refunds as you didn't purchase it Directly from them.
