I lose a LOT. A LOT. And I don't mind. My time in trials is usually spent grinding a flawed wealth card.
But after losing 4 games in a row, to see that someone got to the Lighthouse because they beat me, seems insane. Isn't this supposed to be where the best of the best compete? And only the best go Flawless?
How is beating me a top tier accomplishment? I don't even have a 1.0 KD. My card is flawed. Has been since my first game, never reset.
Some people say those who get flawless on Sunday didn't earn it, well whoever beat me to go flawless didn't accomplish much either lol. If we're 0-2 and there's no chance we're winning, you best believe I'm "speeding up" the match to get my rep, idgaf.
With the current system, there is no prestige in Flawless. Period.
UPDATE:: Ok, so I've learned a lot since this post went up. I think we can safely say Flawless is currently meaningless if some teams are given the win due to poor matchmaking. I think the next question is, what would make more players join Trials? Making Flawless more attainable or changing the goal altogether, maybe to 7 wins total on a card?
Accommodations can be made for more elite accomplishments I'm sure, so I don't think that's an issue. We've already determined there is little prestige in this mode currently (at least in the general pool), but I think there is room to add some back while also adding incentive to lower skill players.
UPDATE 2:: Imagine this. You play a card that does not require you to go flawless, just complete a challenging but easier objective, let's say win 10 matches for example's sake. When you finish you can turn in the card for a random adept weapon but that puts you in the Flawless Pool. You do not get a Flawless title. You do not go to the Lighthouse. You can also choose to enter the Flawless Pool straight away. In this context, Flawless Pool means you are going for Flawless, not that you have it.
In the FL pool you can go for a Flawless win as normal, you get to go to the lighthouse, and you get the week's adept weapon, not a random one, and you can continue to target farm them on a non-flawed card like now.
This creates alignment in player goals. Players in the Flawless pool have the same objectives. Players can choose to remain outside the pool but they can't target adept weapons or go Flawless, other than the random one they get when they choose to enter the Flawless pool.
I can even see an option for players outside the flawless pool to see the Lighthouse if they want, by playing a Mercy card and if they go flawless on it, they can go to the Lighthouse for another random adept weapon, once per card.

You should literally only be able to match people like this. For all flawless cards Wins 1-2-3match Wins 4-5-6 match Flawless games only match each other. This would mean that in order to go flawless you have to beat another team that is capable of getting 6 wins in a row as wel, which is actually where I’d fit in the part of it being an accomplishment. Any card with a loss can match any other card with a loss no matter how many.

3 通の返信The flawless pool was implemented to put flawless players in their own matchmaking so that other players wouldn't get matched with them and stomped into oblivion. But then the sweats just reset their card and continue farming, further discouraging newer players from even attempting the mode (which, ironically, would eventually result in the resetting players ending up in a pseudo flawless pool because the only players in the pool are resetters). If you don't see a problem with this, I don't know what to tell you. Going flawless by beating a bunch of solo queuing new lights doesn't prove anything. It would be like matching a professional men's league team against little Jimmy's softball team. Trials is flawed at its core. It is an endgame mode that encourages competitive gameplay but was implemented with casual mechanics. There is no climb, no ladder, no brackets, no incentive to hop in and improve. Furthermore, there are no penalties for abusing the system. There is no penalty for resetters (they are effectively smurfs, which is a bannable offense in any other game). The Adept weapons are locked behind an absurd prerequisite (flawless), which is also compounded by a lack of ranking or Sbmm. PvP is long overdue for some renovations. More game modes, better matchmaking and an actual competitive ranking. Hopefully with Sony, they'll be able to devote the resources to it.

3 通の返信Honestly, Trials is just a breeding ground for elitists and for guns to get nerfed. Trials is now and always was a bad, toxic addition to the game. It should be permanently removed.

39 通の返信Chuck Finleyにより編集済み: 4/3/2022 4:09:37 AMYou kids are so entitled it’s insane. If you sick at pvp, why are you playing trials and then crying that you are losing in it? Do you even know how competitions work? If you enter and get destroyed by someone better than you, that’s your own fault for thinking you are good enough to compete. Stop creating your own issues and then complaining on here about it. Edit: Funny how all the kids who apparently just learned what swear words are also have embarrassingly low kds. You all are literally proving my point 😂

7 通の返信Mister Wreckedにより編集済み: 4/4/2022 3:10:18 AMI'm saying this as someone who went flawless every week last season that Trials was up, and again this season. Anyone should be able to turn a flawed 7 win card into Saint-14 for the week's Adept loot at the same cost that Flawless players can. That is an easy way to respect the time of the people in the playlist who never go flawless be they solos self proclaimed "bad players". That still limits the ship, sparrow, memento and some adept mods as unique rewards for people who make it to the Lighthouse. They also still have the ability to farm their flawless card. Gatekeeping gear from people who put in the time has never made sense to me.

7 通の返信Icy Hot Todorokiにより編集済み: 4/2/2022 5:19:13 PMAt the behest of the large % of players who didn't have teams that could help them go flawless, Bungie changed it to where they no longer implemented card based match ups. Alas, all these people who felt they were entitled to the Trials gear in spite of their 0.4 career k/d cried, and cried, asking for easy mode, which made it much more toxic IMHO. Sure, the people who are already good enough to go flawless got a bunch of free wins thanks to the likes of the aforementioned type of players. But it also created a lot more whiners who wondered why they're getting destroyed by teams when they solo queue. You're right, Flawless isn't as prestigious as it used to be, and casuals who don't understand that Trials, like Comp, was never meant to be for average to below average players without a good team to help/carry them. I say this as a person who will admit to being carried because my only talent in PvP is team shooting and following teammates

3 通の返信Yea I don’t know man. When I see a gilded flawless player, I definitely give them some respect up front. Not caring about a title doesn’t degrade the achievements those players did. I just got my flawless and gilded it. It’s not easy even with comms and cheese and everything you can throw at the kitchen sink.

2 通の返信Jet2Holidayにより編集済み: 4/3/2022 7:49:14 PMThere's was a weekend a while back, previous season if I am not mistaken, that I match against FallOut, CammyCakes and Time like three games in a row while playing a Flawed wealth card. It is comical lmao. I was playing solo lmao. I love it.

NYDIBSにより編集済み: 4/4/2022 2:46:58 AMTrials should be able to grinded out for the adept weapons, good players get there faster, bad players take a lil bit longer This whole flawless system is so stupid at the moment, it needs to be done away with Destiny is a pve game first, players should be rewarded just for stepping into this p2p shithole

The reason flawless pool is on sundays is because the streamers want to do carries against loads of solo players whom they should never match. Honestly think trials flawless pool should have a ranking system to determine the best “fire team” of that week. The top 5 teams get a unique title for that week (until next trials weekend) and the top team gets a gilded version. After the season is complete, the top ten teams (consistent placing each weekend) get unique emblems and titles, and the first place winners gain a second exclusive emblem and gilded version of said exclusive title.

8 通の返信Wow... So many replies from people who need to brush-up on their reading comprehension. Here's this person talking about how absurd it is that Trials players are going flawless because of lesser skilled/experienced players who are just doing a basic grind for some gear. And I've seen so many replies thinking this person is complaining that they're losing or that they want easy wins or gear. That's not AT ALL what the OP is saying, you dolts. Learn. To. Read. That said, to the OP, it's because Bungie don't know how to make a game. They've created too many variables to try and keep-up with to actually give a well-rounded and robust system diverse in activities to play that encourage people to actually play them. Instead, we have a bloated system of just mindless grinding where you're not suppose to actually play the game as intended but, instead, just check-off the steps of your chores list to get the small amount of gear that MIGHT drop for you that you'll keep while the rest is basic infusion material or scrapped within seconds of getting it because it's utterly useless. And isn't that just worth hours and hours and hours of your time every-SINGLE-day in order to not "miss out" on anything?

you cant say that . your using logic . pvp players are scared of logic. they haven't downloaded that update yet. remember these things are nothing but npcs that only parrot what pvp streamers say. blank slates with no free will or consciousness of their own .

5 通の返信JM-TheChosen1により編集済み: 4/3/2022 4:02:34 PMSimple really. The wording or data for idol things like "FLAWLESS" or "STATS" for PVP is meaningless in public matchmaking. It is not an accomplishment to some people who are truly skilled. The only things that matter are the in-game decisions you make to kill your opponents in a fight. I see what your saying though. How is it an accomplishment to kill some random kids who have low experience when your a high level black belt? There is none. It is an illusion. The only time these achievements matter is in tournament against the best teams or players across the world. That whole, Flawless = Good or MM Stats = Best means absolutely nothing since High Level PVP Tournaments exist across all genre of gaming. It is 100% Vanity. TRIALS IS NOT THE STANDARD FOR THE BEST PLAYERS IN THE WORLD. ONLY TOURNAMENT IS. Public Matchmaking is just for fun or rewards in PVP. Nothing else. Rank? V A N I T Y . Stats? V A N I T Y . Titles? V A N I T Y . It is kill or be killed AT ALL TIMES. 24/7 365 ALL GAME MODES PUBLIC MATCHMAKING TOURNAMENT PRIVATE LOBBIES That is what PVP is... Only the vanity and safeguards make people delusional to think it's anything other than that. You can be mad sure but PVP is War. The only real reward is Death.

1 返信Morakxにより編集済み: 4/3/2022 4:23:34 PMThe 7 win streak system has never been a respectable system FOR DESTINY. Literally only streamers who stack with atleast 1 other cracked player or the 0,1% of sweaty neckbeards who take this mess of a game serious can consistently go flawless. And that's the part i hate about the win streak system. In almost any other shooter, it would mean something. The players must be great who win 7 matches in a row. In Destiny on the other hand, it's just about learning how to abuse cheese in the most possible way. There is no skill involved. The game aims for you with bullet magnetism, it has peer to peer matchmaking which gives terrible hit detection, laggy matches and disconnects, theres still plenty of cheaters, the matchmaking algorythm is catered towards stacks putting them against solo "teams" almost all the time and last but not least, the mentioned cheese in the game. Ability spam everywhere, players camping in stag rifts or behind overshield barricads, spam invis, throw nades that follow you across the map, slows, damage reduction nades etc etc. So what i'm trying to say is that all the above mentioned makes 7 win streaks for their main pvp game mode an absolute insult. It would work in an actual balanced and up to date game from a technical standpoint. This unbalanced outdated mess on the other hand simply does not have the infrastructure to provide a fun journey towards the lighthouse.

4 通の返信Self centered post, step outside of yourself please. There will be game 7’s against good and bad players, it’s not the end of the world. I personally don’t give a -blam!- about trials, got my god rolled adepts and left that mess behind.

I think it's funny that it's apparently "unearned" when done late in the event. The level of elitism that this community exudes is both hilarious and sad, especially in light of the OP pointing out that being sent to the Lighthouse after beating someone who's on a 4-game losing streak is the opposite of earning it.

Me too, I never reset and just play for loot and to help everyone else go flawless. I have a .8 KDA and get players on my team worse than me, the other side has 2 flawless and one being carried. Costs about 100$ or you can get in on a lottery with a streamer. Some are just better than others. Just helped 5 go the lighthouse already this Sunday morning. Even after some wins and getting 2.0 to 6.0 games my KDA doesn't change its stuck or glitched and I don't care it's just a video game. And the others that watch videos and "learn" to get better yeah, I did that too, but unless you have a team/clan that plays a lot to help you out still not going to win, it's just the way it is, and will always be.....some players are just good and maybe have better equipment and others will never be good regardless and nobody cares about PVP its not where the money is.

19 通の返信Okay? Why do you honestly think changing a very distinct part of the identity of trials is a good idea? Because you want a consolation prize? Over a quarter of a million players played trials the first week. We don't need to completely change the mode to get more bad players in that'll only whine when they still lose.
-
Matchmaking at its finest, I hear you but I don’t think anything can be done about that. Ive had games where I’m on my first card win facing a stack of players ready to go flawless. I thought the system is card based but I guess not. I don’t care if other players go flawless, that means they enter the flawless pool and this will never see me again for the rest of the week. Games het much easier, its honestly how I was able to go flawless as a solo player. Some games were still hard due to stacks waiting til Monday to cheese their way to flawless but I gave them a real hard time because I just happened to be better. Trials is flawed, it always has been. The mode is full of cheaters and cheese lords that use and abuse the most broken mechanics for their wins. All I can say is flawless is pretty pointless at this point, the game feels rewarding when players simply finish their cards and stay in the 7th win. I get a ton of materials and its awesome
