To Whoever Reads this, I want to say I appreciate you giving me this post the time of day. I want to go state first and foremost that I’m trying to go into this as unbiased as possible, and that I respect everyone at bungie for their hard work and dedication to the game and community. There have been many nerfs that have come out, reasonably so, for the hunter and while I think that is a great thing, I want to make a small list of the things I’ve noticed:
• Hunter supers are very unreliable at this stage in the game, which makes PvE and PvP Gameplay feel lacking from time to time. I Say this because as it stands, Tether and Bottom Tree Golden Gun (with Celestial NightHawk), feel like the only Viable Supers at this point in the game. We Have Yet to see what Solar and Arc 3.0 look like, so fingers crossed that this shakes things up, but as of now, I really only feel like I can count on those whenever it comes to endgame content. Arc supers for the hunters feel like a copy and paste for all three branches, which I would love to see change. Solar used to be great, but I feel like Way of A thousand cuts could Definitely use a buff.
•On the topic of Exotics: I love some of the exotic hunter designs, I truly do. With that being said, I feel as though I can speak for most hunters when I say that we have very few to choose from that feel very rewarding at this point. Blight Ranger for example. It is such a niche exotic, that essentially provides no support in PvE, and only rarely makes PvP fun, considering most tend to run away from supers instead of engage, not to mention in both modes there are more viable supers to choose from in the first place. Please, we would enjoy if you gave us exotics that enhance utility and weapon or ability usage in a much broader way, as well as giving us balanced exotics off the bat, instead of giving us exotics that can break the game essentially, but get nerfed a week later to the point that it just doesn’t feel viable anymore (I speak of Radiant Dance Machines, Rest in Piece my Beloved).
•Seasonal Mods: It does get to a point where it feels bad looking at the mods and realizing that your super, which back in the day, helped carry through raids has been compressed into a Debuff mod. What’s the point in using a tether debuff when I can achieve that same effect with a grenade, or the season prior, with a fusion rifle? There’s no point In playing hunter, because in endgame content the only time I feel like I contribute now is when I go invis, to resurrect my allies in a grandmaster. Or tether, to shut down a super in trials. Goldie maybe in raids. There has to be utility in the class, something that makes it unique. What’s a warlock without their rift? or a Titan without their barricade? Well? Ward of Dawn? Give a hunter the ability to perform those abilities, and it would make the point of a class system useless. There needs to be utility that stays class specific, and makes playing your class feel viable, no matter what you main.
The Future is bright for the Destiny franchise, anyone can see that, and I can’t wait to see what we have in store for us. I think every class needs changes, and to say “only work on hunters” would be selfish. I want every class to have their fair share, considering I play every class! I just wanted to state my perspective as a hunter main, the things I enjoy and/or would like to see change, and to give a structured argument to the best of my ability. If you’ve reached the end, congrats! Thanks for reading this stupidly long post! I wish you all the best, and I ask only for your support if you agree, or criticism if it’s constructive.
Peace Out, oh Guardian Mine.
I agree honestly I’ve only played hunter yet I look at the other classes and go wow why is what they do so cool. Also shot a titan in pvp with a full clip of funnelweb volitile and he gained shield. That has to stop.
