All my optimism about Bungie’s future was killed this morning when I found out the new IP is probably 3rd person. I can hear this bomb coming a mile away. For a company touting their want to build a competitive PvP game, this sounds like a total Fortnite clone cash grab attempt. I think people will spot it right away and Bungie will not promote it correctly so it’ll tank. I despise playing 3rd person games and I fully expect this to be a cosmetic store with a side of PvP. I hope it’s more, but this is not looking too good. Sony must be taking a big swing on this thing. I just can’t get behind a 3rd person game (pun intended). Disappointed with the news today. Was hoping the feeling of Bungie’s FPS gunplay would be leaned on in a new competitive FPS game.

Disagree. In fact, I think its smart. Because the FPS market is already saturated.....and the people who only play FPS and won't play TPS are only a small part of the market. There a lot of people who enjoy playing TPS....and I am one of them.

6 通の返信Do people hear third person and think of only Fortnite? There are plenty of third person shooters. Since long before Fortnite was ever an idea and they will continue long after Fortnite’s gone.

3 通の返信I’m one of the few that enjoyed Oni. Though it still has a strong community on pc for being a 3rd person bungie game

Lol If you’re prepared to jump the gun based on nothing except the knowledge it’s probably gonna be 3rd person then Bungie doesn’t need your support in the first place. If you’re not even gonna wait for a proper announcement of what it is then you’re even more of a child than the regular Destiny players.

6 通の返信Considering Matter is rumored to be melee based, I’m not sure you want a first person melee-based game.

6 通の返信There's many Games that have 3rd Person PVP. SWTOR WOW Black Desert Uncharted Multiplayer Last of Us Multiplayer SWBF 1&2 New and Old Smite Dreadnought For Honor WWZ RDR2 Fortnite isn't the only one.

4 通の返信Good third person games RDR2 Just Cause 3-4 Fallout 4 (with enough mods) Dark souls 1-3 Bloodborne GTA V Skate 3 Elden Ring I understand they may not be your thing, but its an industry, and doesn’t deserve to be dismissed because its just a specific genre. But I hate anime and I will completely dismiss those games too so I can’t fight you.

4 通の返信I think you are getting all worked up about nothing. Bungie’s most famous IP’s are FPS’s. Making ‘Matter’ a 3rd Person game might simply be a desire differentiate their new IP from Halo and Destiny. One of the worst things a game publisher can do is create multiple IP’s that look and play exactly the same as each other, because those IP’s begin to compete with each other. What do you think happened to Ubisoft when they released AC: Valhalla, Watch Dogs: Legion, Immortals: Fenix Rising, and Far Cry 6 all within a 12 month window.

I find what Bungie has done with D2 to be more off putting than a new game being in 3rd person (and I have no time for / interest in Fortnite). -
4 通の返信A_moにより編集済み: 3/12/2022 4:31:29 PMIf the game is good then the game is good. Doesn't really matter if its first or third person. Their track record of making games that people want to play is pretty solid to say the least. The more interesting question might be what this will mean for PvP in this game/franchise. Regardless of what everyone thinks about this game's PvP its hard to say whether or not not having it will be good for Destiny. Also, can't really tell much from any of the available info, but its also hard to say if people that like first person PvP and people that like something in 3rd person are the same people or where those people will come from or if its just so undeniably good that they don't have to worry about such things.

10 通の返信Lol. Imagine calling something a fortnite clone just because its 3rd person. 🤣🤣🤣 You know 3rd person was a thing long before that right?
