I use a basic note app for writing Offtopic things and copy paste it here. Trying to write on the site itself risks getting signed out or dropped and losing all progress. I just use [url=https://m.lettercount.com/]this site[/url] for counting the characters and making sure it fits. 8500 for posts and comments. I wouldn't recommend going over the main post and a pinned comment because whatever else might get buried. Also make a unique tag. Trying to find older posts is a pain.

I’m not sure if this is still a thing, but I remember a feature on the forums where you could post a question, and then select the best answer. The best answer would always be the first comment on the list of comments. So some people would post a story as a question thread, and then the continuation of the story that couldn’t be included in the main body of the post would always be at the top as a comment, and people wouldn’t have to scroll through comments to read more.

Each post has an 8500 character limit. Go above that, and you have to break it up. That means either links or a pin.
