Sony buying Destiny?
Saw a news report that Sony is buying Destiny studio for 3.6 billion or is this fake news?

28 通の返信Does anyone feel annoyed by this? That this company tried to be different and do its own thing through independence? After all the Big Business's trying to 'control' Bungie, they end up once again with another Big Company with now no escape. The Respect/Integrity is falling pretty hard on this company.

Only working with them to “get better talent.” Thankfully, Destiny will still be supported on all platforms and there won’t be any platform specific stuff (for now lol). Edit: I guess Sony bought them. Also, after re-reading the letters, it seems there won’t be any exclusive content at least for witch queen.

3 通の返信Well soon all PC and Xbox players will be losing their Destiny games, it was fun, I’m going to play their last DLC on PC, then I am sure everything will go straight to PlayStation 4 and 5. Congrats PlayStation owners, and congrats you’ll likely to get Destiny 3, which is when all PC players will stop getting new content,; instead of being a platform elitist, I support everyone and everything, but I’m staying on PC. Exclusivity is a sad way for a company to do something, but it’s business, it was fun playing with everyone, I’m going to be looking for something new, so when Destiny 3 is announced, I’m going to go back to FFXIV.

Tis real. Bungie did a great job softening the blow with some fancy wording. Tossed some phrasing around, saying they are still in control. They really emphasized this was a partnership. Lettme break it down for y'all. Sony owns Bungie now. They own Destiny. They own whatever Bungies involvement in their new mystery game in development is. Bungie studio will likely retain all creative control, as stated in their announcement, but they sure as hell still report to big daddy Sony. And let me tell you the major labels don't play around when it comes to the bottom dollar. Forsaken was one of Destiny's best expansions and it still almost got the game cancelled for underperforming on sales. It's not all doom and gloom though. This buyout could easily lead for a push to destiny 3. The next two years are the most important two years for the Destiny franchise. It all depends on the sales of [b]next years[/b] expansion, Bungie needs to knock that one out of the park or they may find themselves in a position of needing to buy their property back again.

3 通の返信I'm thinking SIE believes like Bungie that there could be oodles of monies to be made outside the confines of the game itself. The more platforms- the easier the brand saturates. TV, streaming, movies, books,etc.

4 通の返信Interesting that Bungie is remaining independent when one of the biggest criticisms of Sony is their failure to integrate all it's various businesses and getting them to work together. Sony makes hardware, tvs, computers, music, tv shows, movies, games, consoles, and more. They have everything to make a sony version of itunes. Of Spotify, Of Netflix, of Sling TV. But they can't get the departments to talk to each other and cooperate. If i recall they've actually had Sony Music Group sue Sony Motion Pictures for using music in movies without rights. They should have been able to make a Sony streaming service work. They already own hella music and movies and tv. And from what everyone tells me is one of Sony's big problems is all the groups are independent and thus they don't cooperate and coordinate anything.

Actually heard they going back to producing PS4’s because they can’t keep up with PS5 demand 🤷🏼. Wtf Edit: Jesus was jokingly saying this. Everyone needs to calm it with the explanations. I know 👍
