Literally every single update seems to be targeted AGAINST the players.

Heard of Qol Bungie? QUALITY of life updates? Every single time you release major updates, systems get introduced that make our life harder. Every single time. How about only positive changes for a major dlc? It's always like 4 twabs with bad news until the one with semi cool news and people praise Bungie again. I am still patiently waiting for the one fall update that is legit beneficial for us as a player. When people look forward to a new mjaor expansion, a fresh new experience, as a long time player i myself can only think "what will Bungie introduce this time to make our life harder or to invalidate our previous time spent in the game or simply take away from us". You guys need to fix that. A famous phrase our good friend Luke Smith used like 500 times per dlc trailer: "we are going to fix that". What have you fixed? Literally all you do is make our life harder and delete stuff from our game and loadouts and in exchange throw more meaningless grind at us. You "fixed" your engine for how long now? since shadowkeep? What benefit came with those engine changes? Faster and more frequent updates? Pff yea maybe when a bright dust exploit is around. More content? Nah you keep deleting half the game into the DCV annualy. Better lighting and graphics? Nah, the game looks overall worse than it did in year 1. Better net code and game stability? Nah, more game crashes and laggy pvp lobbies than ever. First sunsetting, now you happily delete whole planets, raids, pvp maps, strikes, gambit maps, loot, cosmetics, exotic quests, story missions, campaigns, exotic quest missions. In addition, every single new system just means "regrind what you already had" or "how to make an already working system worse for the players". Examples: armor 2.0, weapons 2.0, now 3.0 with crafting (sunsetting light), enhanced mods removed that we grinded out forever, adept mods added to regrind, reissues of weapons with worse perk pools, armor masterworking used to cost a few enhancement cores which was already hated, now we adapted to the way worse and material eating system we have now and noone talks about it. Mod cost increases in general, now making masterworking weapons meaningless. Introducing upgrade moduls, infusion was way less pricy before. Transmog being a time sink with a cap or a money sink. How about not touching working systems and ADDING cool stuff that we can ENJOY playing around with, that ADDS to our experience. So tired of it. And the worst part is that addicts like me eat it up every single year.

  • Since most the people I've dealt with on here like you are slow readers, or half-illiterate, or impatient children, or some combination of them all, there's a TL;DR at the bottom for you in case you fall into those categories. If not, then great! Maybe we can have a real discussion, like forums are meant to be used for. First off...they sunset content that is only played by a minority. Everyone angry about it is either in that minority, or is angry because nostalgia. Sunsetting content like Forsaken, which is so old the only people playing it anymore are New Lights, isn't a real problem. Paid money for it? Congrats, so did I. I don't care. I got my money's worth, I enjoyed the whole of that campaign 3 times and now I'm done with it. Why are you upset about losing content you've been through more times than you were ever meant to go through it? Second...Who cares if they sunset cosmetics? Like...actually who cares? They're cosmetics. Unless they were your main look and you can't use them anymore, why be upset at all? And if they were, why be THIS upset about it? Third, masterworking DOES still serve a purpose. Orbs weren't the only reason to masterwork a weapon. Masterworking gives a decent boost to one stat on the gun, and that's still worth the cheap cost of masterworking a gun. Cores and legendary shards aren't a high price to pay, you know. Fourth, Mod costs haven't really increased, and if they have it's still cheaper than it was. Armor mods are 100% free to swap now, and weapon mods are only 500 glimmer to swap, which btw, without a glimmer booster, ONE strike gets you PLENTY more glimmer than that. Fifth, complaining about the transmog system is a bit pointless. We didn't have transmog at all, and now we do. Is it perfect? Nope, not by a long shot. Is it a problem? Also no. The people stupid enough to pay money for transmog aren't hurting you by wasting their money, and two full armor sets of transmog per season is more than enough, especially given we got 4 full armor sets worth, 2 of which were 100% free and didn't even need grinding, when transmog was introduced. By now you should have a Forever Set, a set of universal ornaments you use as your primary look. Anything beyond that is a Want, and a low-priority one at that. So being upset over transmog is just childish. Sixth, if you're after QoL stuff, look no further than the fact they made orb generation easier, and since it's an armor mod it can be swapped at the drop of a hat for free. And it's on the helmet, so it's not like there's much of importance there anyways, so if they cause you to lose out on another mod, it's not much of a loss. Or how about the fact they DID make armor mods totally free and instant-swap? That was QoL. Or the weapon-crafting, so we can get the rolls we want more reliably? That's a significant QoL change, being able to pick and choose like that. Then there's the fact they're making it so Masterworked Armor can have its element changed for hardly anything, as opposed to costing ascendant shards, modules, prisms, and glimmer. They ARE making QoL changes, but you're so upset at them for basically nothing that you're ignoring all the QoL stuff. You're complaining about the symptoms of the situation, ignoring the situation, and the symptoms aren't even real issues. Seventh, your remark about more content...They are adding more content with every season, every dlc. Dares is content. DLC campaigns are content. When they say "more content", they don't mean "more in addition to", they just mean "new". They're sacking old content that either nobody plays anymore, or is old enough that everyone who does play it has played it enough to not need to anymore. That frees up space to add in new content, so that people who don't have a terabyte, or several terabytes, of space can still download the game without giving up any others, AND so that the game won't be so cluttered. Can you imagine how overwhelming and cluttered this game would be if they never got rid of ANYTHING? New Lights would have their heads spinning trying to figure out what to do and where it was and what order to do it in. Final Words: Ultimately, everything you're upset over is a non-issue or you simply don't understand enough to make comments on it. You really need to rethink this. And before you say I'm a bungie apologist, I'm really not. They've made a lot of mistakes in the past, and screwed a lot of things up. But I believe in acknowledging the good AND the bad, and when all you're doing is pointing out non-issues, I feel the need to remind you of all the good that came with those "problems". TL;DR You're upset over nothing, and need to pay more attention to things that actually make a difference rather than complaining about things that don't.

    • Im alright with the changes, its not great but not going to impact my enjoyment negatively. I do wish armor was getting more energy with how expensive mods are either that or make it easier to get high stat armor or even raise the stat cap on drops

One big one I noticed was the update preceding Season of the Lost. I actually played quite a bit of Season of the Chosen and enjoyed Breach and Clear quite a bit. Back in Season of the Chosen, using Breach and Clear, I remember my main build pretty well: obviously Breach and Clear (9 mod slots), taking charge (3 mod slots), grenade launcher scavenger (3 mod slots), gl reserves (3 mod slots), gl ammo finder (2 or 3 mod slots, can’t remember this exactly), Argent Ordinance (1 mod slot). So for gm’s, raids, or pretty much all content outside of pvp I ran this same build. As soon as Season of the lost started grenade launcher scavenger went from 3 mods slots to 5 mod slots. Numerous other scavenger mods went up 2/3 mod slots as well. Argent Ordinance went from costing 1 mod slot to 5!! All these were ninja nerfs too, they weren’t mentioned in any of the literature leading up to the update. There was a bit of an uproar when the season started and people were asking wtf? Well, Bungie responded - basically saying they knew scav mods were costing a lot in mod slots but to balance that we should use the ammo finder mods. So how’s that going to work when we have to pick between ammo finder or making orbs? To the OP’s point - I believe Bungie absolutely wants to limit the “fun” of this game in every imaginable fashion. They’ve shown since D1 that they’re absolutely willing to nerf anything we consider fun and force us to play the way they “envision” the game being played. What’s funny is I doubt that even 50% of the people at Bungie even play their own game, I’m sure that number is much lower when you talk about management too. I played a bit yesterday. Trying to do a gm. Couldn’t get it done. I’d like to get a Hothead with Vorpal because the Sleepless I had with Vorpal literally disappeared out of my vault. That RL was locked, I never would have deleted it. I’m pretty sure it’s lost in code when I used the app to transfer it, or Bungie stole it from me because they knew how OP it was.

        • Please tell me you didn't just notice this. Your first clue was way back in year 1 of D2. The game is meant to be on an unrewarding addictive loop that is literally meant for you to grind the hell outta things always chasing that "one more time" while the devs make playing as much of a pain in the -blam!- and unfun as they can. Wish you the best of luck during Witch Queen. Won't see anyone when that time arrives.

        • This isn't a new concept. Bungo has to make things convoluted and unrewarding. Also when that one weapon destroys the current meta it's nerfed into oblivion(looking at you telesto). Too many systems and mechanics and behind the scenes that just don't work.

          • they're doing this to create artificial content and to extend player time and player numbers. most of bungie's team is working on matter, which is funded by the ccp. they have to show their chinese overlords that they can make a "sustainable" game, otherwise they'll have to pay back that $100M.

I’m certainly not defending Bungie & their communication about the DCV and reasons has been frankly amateur! Part of the reason for the DCV is Bungie coding error That the code is so messed up/muddled that they took things out (their words) to clean up & rebuild that content The common theory about the Destiny Content Vault was that Bungie mainly was doing it to start “saving space” as the game was simply getting too big from a hard drive perspective, and it also allowed them to do things like rebuild old Destiny 1 assets for “easier” content releases (ie. the Cosmodrome returning this year). But according to Aztecross, it’s more complicated than that. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=eNQRMwVbk_g
He talks about an eight hour meeting with content creators that Luke Smith had last fall talking about both the content vault and a potential Destiny 3, and while this sounds like something he may not technically be able to talk about (better check that NDA), the info’s out there now. Luke Smith explained to the group the idea that Destiny was full of so many bugs and so hard to develop for because it essentially needed to be rebuilt. And that the purpose of the content vault isn’t just about saving hard drive space, it’s that these planets and activities are being rotated out of the game in order to be “rebuilt” in a way that suggests a new process or new engine, in order to be returned to the game later in a “better” form. One question Smith posed to the group was “well why do you actually want a Destiny 3?” and the group listed off a bunch of things like more RPG aspects and new, larger areas, and he said all that stuff would be possible if they just “refreshed” Destiny 2 in this planned way with content vault in and out rotation. And that’s why we have at least three more years of Destiny 2 ahead of us with three expansions already listed.
Source: https://www.forbes.com/sites/paultassi/2020/08/26/aztecross-reveals-the-actual-reason-destiny-2s-content-vault-exists/

                • Unless your a new light you should understand why the DCV was implemented by now. I doubt that any one likes the DCV but without it D2 either stops getting new content or it stops working all together. Well they could do have made D3 instead.

Nah, more game crashes and laggy pvp lobbies than ever.
If WQ guaranteed that they would fix their astonishingly crappy network communication implementation, I would pre-order it in a heartbeat. But all Bungle seems to be able to do is make this aspect worse - it's been glitchy as h*ll since the 30th anniversary fluff-stuff came out (which is not to say that it wasn't poor before that). For reference, I have hardwired 'net and specs just now were 430 Mbps DL, 23 Mbps UL, 3 ms jitter, 15 ms latency, 0% packet loss.

                    • Look, I get it, game has issues, but QoL improvements HAVE been made, and they have been made consistently all this year, game is actually much more endearing than it was at the beginning of Beyond Light. I remember the bad old times, the double primary times, the curse of Osiris times, when all changes, honestly sucked, supers sucked, abilities sucked, weapons sucked, movement was slow, clunky and awkward, everything was a massive grind and I freaking quit. I didn’t return until Beyond Light because I was like “cool ranch flavored guardian? Sign me up”, and I’ll be honest, holy hell was it pain, 120 2 taps, stasis Uber dominance, blatant hackers everywhere, season content was just boring and painful, story was pretty ok? Ok it kinda sucked, nobody cares about cool ranch fallen. But let me tell you, game got better, changes have been slow, methodical, Bungie stopped making changes and started making improvements, they started to build their game again. There have been duds, yes, but overall, it’s been getting better, QoL, has been getting better, subclasses are becoming more distinct, buildcrafting is coming back in a good way. It’s the first time since Destiny 2 was being previewed that I’ve been excited about a Bungie release. For once, I have the ability to take Bungie at their word they are doing things to make the game better. But believe me when I saw it, if Witch Queen is implemented terribly and indeed everything is awful. I will be playing Elden Ring, Lord Miyazaki never lost my faith, man has been making bangers for years
