All weapons underperform because making enemies bullet-spongy is how Bungie reaches for difficulty outside of dungeons and raids. But agreed, AR, most SRs. and some PRs are particularly bad.

  • Well they can’t really do mechanically challenging content, this community is cheeks at it. I loaded into a dares of eternity the other day and still see people not understanding where to throw balls

  • DOE isn't the kind of content where Bungie should be trying to institute it. Its the content where there is no matchmaking and people are going in with fireteams. But Bungie still takes the route they have in Grand masters.

  • You mean where enemies actually threaten the guardian? Where we don’t insta kill everything and have to play like our lives matter? God forbid there be combat challenge….. something a colossal list of games have done for ages with no real complaints

  • If that's what you want, then you're playing the wrong game. Destiny is a power-fantasy game. The game getting easier as you progress isn't a bug...its a features. Its the reward for all the grinding and build-crafting. That FEELING of power is why the vast majority of the player base plays games like this....and if a developer DOESN"T understand this and doesn't honor it (cough...vanilla D2...cough) they risk alienating their players and destroying the game. Like Massive did ignoring the player's complaints about not feelin powerful, and punishing their players for exploiting a damage glitch in the game. When devs go to war with their own players, they always lose.

  • You’re an overpowered mythical monster in literally every place in the game except master or gm content which makes up a very small portion of it. People who engage with that content are looking for something a bit more intense. If it isn’t for you don’t play it, you can be that overpowered monster in strikes if you don’t want to do gms

    I don’t play it. The problem is that Bungie isn’t willing to accept the very low engagement that the content naturall gets. So they arm-twist to get people to play it. It’s that arm-twisting in addition to pissing all over the power-fantasy that is the core identity that people resent. It’s like fromsoft putting an [i]easy mode[/i] in Dark Souls game…and then when that community objects? I just say, [i]”Well just don’t play it. You aren’t the target audience.”[/i]. While the devs pressure you to engage with that content by withholding valuable resources. (Not the loot, but the upgrade materials) As I said, Massive took that same attitude as they ignored the player psychology that drives people to play these games, and it cost them and The Division dearly. And Bungie is making a similar mistake. Once again going to war with their own game and the vast majority of the player base on this.

  • It’s low engagement because it’s for the better players who play a lot and want more of an endgame. No ones forcing anyone to go do it. I don’t get your complaint

  • My complaint is that Bungie isn’t willing to accept that trade off. They want this content to have solid engagement, and they withhold resources needed to progress gear and pressure players that don’t enjoy this content into engaging with it. If it were just a matter of adept weapons, and armor with an extra mod slot, you would hear a peep from me. It’s that that Bungie hides ascendant materials behind this content that is a problem.

  • You can do lost sectors for mats or easier strikes (I will agree the material lists for armour is a bit much) But where did they say they wanted it to have solid engagement? It was always my understanding it wasn’t for everyone and for the hardcore audience who want something to chase or do.

Considering Bungie tried to cater the game to every possible market instead of picking their target audience which is why we are in this mess. It's a game that tries t on cater all and fails on all. A hard core grinding game wouldn't make the game free to play for casuals.

  • Most of the games kept pretty casual which left hardcore players out. Gm/master content filled the void for that audience. Not sure why you’d think they care about new lights, don’t think we need to see a post on the subject since the complete lack of anything to that group speaks volumes

I never said they care about new lights I said they made the game free (not) for that purpose only. The game isn't free at all, it's a demo only. But they said several times that Destiny is for everyone until Luke made his presence known with "it's not for the average Joe on Walmart". This game tries to cater everyone, and that is the biggest issue of all. If the make a DLC with complex and grindy economy then that is advertised as Hardcore, when they make no content but reskins and rerelease then it's for all to enjoy. Even Bungie doesn't know what genre game they are making (defined the game 3 - 4 different genres already) or which target audience they want to address, how would you exactly know that?

  • Would be nice if it had a more defined vision. I’d prefer it be more hardcore but I’m sure that’s a minority opinion. At least witch queen looks like it’ll be half decent at worst

Whatever Bungie choose to do would be OK, but they gotta choose, plan and implement. There is a huge difference but a thin line in project management between being agile and being loose. Bungie is way too loose. Hope to see better focus on witch queen, 🤞

  • They aren’t anymore enjoyable. Which is the point. Bungie is trying to force the entire player base to engage with this stuff, and they are playing hide-and-seek with progression to do it. Which is a MAJOR foul where loot games are concerned.

  • If you don’t want to do end game stuff, you don’t really need the mats. You can do most of the game with blue gear anyways. Not really being forced to do -blam!- all

  • That’s not how loot games work. Progression is open to all. LOOT is what gets stratified. Bungie is doing this because they can’t make enough loot for the game (Blackburn admitted), and hiding resources needed for progression is an easy way to pressure people to play end-game content. Content that the vast majority of the player base makes it clear that they don’t enjoy playing. IOW, Bungie is cheating, in an effort to hide one of the game’s major shortcomings.

  • You want to max out your gear you do end game stuff, maxed gear is only really needed in end game stuff. Doesn’t seem that complicated to me

  • That’s not the rules by which loot games work. Bungie is breaking those rules to cover up the games flaws. Progression is open to everyone. Loot is stratified. Keeping adept weapons behind that wall of punishing content is fair game. Hiding upgrade materials behind it is a foul.

    If the only place to get the upgrade materials (I'm assuming you mean shards mainly) was the punishing content I'd agree with you. But there's alternatives that although it takes mildly more time it's still an option. Punishing content however is subjective if you ask me. You could find a Legend Nightfall Punishing and I could not. Regardless I digress..... There's viable alternatives to the progression in the game. Too many just look to shave it down and when it doesn't go their way it's high levels of sodium.

  • Progression is open to everyone, and it isn’t hard nor does it take much effort. Leveling gear doesn’t really need to be mind blowingly fun, it’s a grind if you aren’t stocked but again we’re talking about something you solely need in the end game, don’t want to do end game stuff? Don’t really need maxed gear. I do agree the cost of it and the list of mats is stupid. Rather just have one currency like cores
