Sure the extra draw speed is nice but it’s like bungie wanted to make it more of a dps weapon, which it never was and probably never will be. Something like a special version of vorpal weapon (think whisper’s better box breathing) or chain reaction would’ve been better.

It makes it much stronger as a champion weapon, since you can actually squeeze in a couple shots after a stun, whereas before it was basically strictly a single shot. A Vorpal-type perk or chain reaction would have been wildly more garbage than archer’s tempo.

What if the vorpal perk allows you to one shot unstoppable champions in nearly every situation? These really fits the whole “big game hunter” thing. Whereas chain reaction would fit better with its explosive arrows and add clear. Which admittedly doesn’t fit as well, but would make the weapon much more fun. I can see where you’re coming from with archer’s tempo, and it does make leviathan’s breath more fun to use. But it doesn’t fit any role that isn’t better filled by something else other than being an unstoppable bow.

It wouldn’t be a weapon for dps, or add clear, or even overall damage. It would be designed specifically around absolutely destroying champions, and more specifically unstoppable champions. Giving it a role that isn’t filled by other existing exotic heavies.

Do you not see the balance issues with “haha lmao this weapon literally just one shots champions”. That would just forcibly make it completely, utterly 100% meta for all endgame champ activities and there would be no reason to run anything else.

As if destiny 2 doesn’t already have the “you need to use these weapons and nothing else” problem [i]because[/i] of champions and the artifact. Last week every gm and master team I ran with used arbalest, bow, and linear fusion or rocket launcher. Loadout diversity in endgame won’t suffer because of this change, if anything there will be more variety because people can choose a boss damaging or champion killer heavy.

Load variety for anything involving unstoppable champs would be obliterated. Free kills on unstoppable and fair enough damage per shot that you won’t be suffering for boss damage? It would literally be the perfect weapon for those activities. That’s braindead design, to just say “hey there is [i][b]literally[/b][/i] nothing better than this weapon for these activities”.

So scrap what the catalyst currently does, and replace it with something along these lines: Damage is moderately increased when used against any champion Damage is massively increased when used against unstoppable champions. Damage is increased even further on precision hit. Basically, make it a weapon strong against champions as a whole, but devastating to unstoppable champions. Make it so the whole one shot champion potential is only possible on unstoppables, can only be done on precision hits, and isn’t possible in activities like GM’s where instead it will only make the unstoppable champions very weak and easy to finish off. This will allow leviathan’s breath to have a use in end game content, and for it to feel rewarding to use because of the extra precision hit damage.
