I doubt it. Part of the issues stem from their over usage of particle effects, and I wouldnt put it past them that it’s other optimization issues on this archaic engine that are causing it, combined with bad programming. D2 should have been retired

D2 should have been retired[/quote] D2 isn’t really the problem. If we got a D3, it wouldn’t have the support that D2 gets.not to mention lacking content. D3 would also suffer from similar problems with old gen holding it back. D2 runs great on next gen right now, so the best move imo is to drop old gen as soon as there’s enough players with next gen for it to make sense.

Problem is that all these issues going on are not just delegated to old gen. They are affecting all platforms. Like I said a newer game with much less code and a new engine properly optimized would have been considerably better than this.

The issues are just on old gen. A complete restart wouldn’t work. It would be years until it would be ready and it would have as much content as vanilla D1 and D2 at most. Moving offf of old gen makes the most sense.
