This review is actually completely fine. It’s overall pretty fair but it brings up something that people love but I hate. Not everything has to be like the MCU! I remember Marvel’s Avengers getting similar criticism.
People say that Joker from The Batman (2004) is too “inaccurate to the comics” but when something comic-accurate comes along it’s too inaccurate to the movies!
I’m starting to think it’s a good thing DCs failing in the movie department so that they don’t let it infect everything good and pure!
I hate this! I hate it! Ahhhhhh!
Okay. Now that I’ve calmed down, I can allow myself to be more clear. I’ve always despised it when Marvel or DC bases something unrelated to their CUs on their CUs. It’s why I’ve always preferred DC; they respect the source material while also improving allowing themselves to improve on it.
I feel that Guardians of The Galaxy actually performs this perfectly. It’s unique, comic-accurate, and familiar to MCU fans all at once. Insomniac’s 21yr-old Spidey does not need to look like the MCU’s 16yr-old Spidey. Marvel’s Avengers looks 70% like their MCU versions but also 30% not and it’s just not blended well at all. I’m trying to find other examples but I can’t so maybe I’m just salty over Spidey’s face.
It’s okay to make it familiar to those not to familiar with these characters outside the comics but don’t disrespect the source material entirely. If anything, the producers of the MCU should be taking notes! The game characters are intelligent and funny at the same time! Who woulda thought?
Basically, it doesn’t have to be completely comic-accurate or even at all, it should be new and unique, and it shouldn’t be based completely off the movies. That is all.
MCU is not the only possible Marvel thing to base stuff off of.
I remember getting my hands on some Spider-Man comics when I watched the movies way back and not being able to follow at all when Peter Parker wasn't even a character in some of them anymore lol
Comics are so old and compelety whack depending on era that being a Capesh--fan but movie only is pretty funny when they stand on a high glass horse.

-Don't care about superhero stuff at all though
