Why is it so hard to eat healthy here. Literally one of the only ways to do that here is to become a vegan. Pesticides all in our food. Our soda has more sugar than sodas across the world. Sheesh

2 通の返信What sucks more is that whilst you're whining about the quality of your food, there'll be kids going without a meal tonight..In your area.

1 返信Its also expensive. I dont live in the US I live in Canada, but same thing, Im a university student and I cant really afford anything other than Kraft mac and cheese, campbells soup, and Great value frozen pizza. Sometimes I treat myself to small luxuries like eggs, and apples. I used to make real meals every day and was spending more than double on groceries.

7 通の返信Cut off sugar like the toxic substance it is. Soda (including diet/zero), "energy" drinks and all other sugar/corn syrup filled stuff right off the bat. Might sound like a no-brainer but it's the biggest thing most need to change ASAP. What works for me is just making sure you have a big, refillable jug of water everywhere you go. Something big enough to last your day. Take a sip from your trusty anti-sugar canteen every time you get a craving for something less than healthy. I usually don't feel like I want it after.

3 通の返信The minuscule trace amounts of pesticides that are in a small fraction of our food are completely harmless

2 通の返信Lots of downvotes but no one coming in here with recipes to counter the claim. But yeah on top of that and the bad food being cheap bit, big stores like Walmart (who killed all the other grocers in my town) don't store their food stuffs properly and the meat and produce lately has all be spoiled. Literally watched a kid stocking gray lunch meat. Moldy, bug infested bread, rotten and bruised apples, and the next closest place is a 2 hour drive there and back for the same results. The state of it all

They pesticide itself is to be washed off before the food is prepared. Our food production has become so scientific to prolong shelf life and to make the food "affordable" (read: more cheap to make), they don't care about general nutrition and health. Couple that with our daily lives becoming so hectic to serve (work), learn, survive, that we can't all or always take time to prepare better meals for ourselves. Then add on the fact that all "healthy" food costs 3x the amount of the processed stuff. And then there is convenience foods; Fast food Gas Station / Convenience stores (wholesale sugar and carb stations) Also, our meat animals are supposedly "antibiotic free", "free range", and "happy". Little of which is actually likely. The average chicken used in production farming is twice the size and maybe a little more than what the standard for them was 50 years ago. I grew up a 1/2 mile away from a poultry farm, and recall the 1978 size chickens (see attached) to be the norm at that place, And yes, it was in the early to mid 70's. The bigger size today can't mean they are the same quality or better for us. I don't know about beef and dairy cattle, but the ones I see on farms in my area don't appear to be any different than they were back when. It's an uphill and expensive venture trying to eat healthy. If you are fortunate enough to be able to afford to, or have the drive to push yourself to be able to maintain the regimen and time required to fulfill the requirements, then your good.... Personally I feel that if the FDA and all the watchdog agencies in place in our society were REALLY focused on making Americans eat better, they would start with making the companies that produce foods to make them better. Less sugar, less chemicals, and only use what is needed for maybe a month's shelf life. Not something that expires next year.

3 通の返信LahDsaiにより編集済み: 12/14/2021 5:01:25 AMIt's 'cause very few people prepare meals themselves at home anymore and unhealthy quick prepared meals are cheaper. It's supply meeting demand. To be fair, it's happening here in (the richer parts of) Asia too. Not American levels but... quickly moving in that direction.

1 返信azo the gayzoにより編集済み: 12/14/2021 11:32:20 AMMoney makes the world go round. Just eat simple. I live mostly off rice vegetables and chicken. It's fairly quick, easy, healthy, and not too expensive. U don't need to lavishly spend on eating weird squashes, dragonfruit -blam!-, hotpockets, and canned soda, and eating out all the time. Besides, if u make a discipline out of controlling ur diet it's sooo much more satisfying to go out to eat or to eat junk food. All things in moderation cousin yee yee
